Aaaagh! Where did that smell come from?
Discussion
Just got my car back from it's first service (main dealer). Got a good deal with me supplying oil after shopping around for prices and the dealer agreed to price match plus throw in a courtesy car at no extra charge. Can't fault the dealers service. Side strake replaced under warranty at same time. I asked them not to wash the car but to vacuum and clean inside. Orders obeyed to the letter. However they've put something exceptionally foul smelling inside as an air freshener Think it may be in the ventilation system but they could have sprayed it on the seats / leather. It seems to be Eau de Flowers of some sort (probably dandelions as smells like pee to me). It has completely overpowered that wonderful Aston smell that I so enjoy every time I get in the car. Please reassure me my old smell will return or what I can use to get it back

All other replies are bone headed.
The answer is simple...
It's a dead mouse...

If its a warm musty gassy humm smell then it could be.... The little rotters do create such a bad odour considering how small they are!!
Funny, my dad called me the other week as he thought there was a bad smell in his landrover, i couldnt smell a thing when i checked it... It turned out he had toast that morning for breakfast and a bit of butter was smudged in his tash and started to smell right under his nose....
Bless him.... Check for butter in facial hair if applicable... LOL

I always thought "butter face" meant something else.
Spoke to the service guy this afternoon. Tells me they only spray a shot of upholstery freshener each side on carpets. Either the guy that did it must reckon I smell or he's dropped the bottle in the car…..I know probably the former. I've had a bath today and I'm assured by service that the smell will disappear in a day or so and my lovely smell will return….not sure if he was meaning me or the car
OP - I had exactly the same the other day - may even be the same dealer- I lodged a friendly complaint, etc. and they said they'd let the valeting people know, but I can only agree - the smell was shocking, can't say on here what it was like, but a dead mouse in the AC might have been better...
Good news was it started to go after a day or so and the proper smell started to come back....

Much improved, thank you. I'm hoping my consultant will allow me back to work soon. I'm tearing my hair out at home.
I am able to drive ok now so I just keep making excuses to go out.
