Test drive of DBS
Discussion
Now I drove one of these a few months back but did not like it,but reading the reviews maybe I had driven a dog? Anyway I went for a quick little spin in one yesterday and I am smitten, the v12v was the only Aston that currently appeals to me,but as an overall car the DBS is actually better and that is saying something.
So the first one was a bit of a dog,it felt a bit wallows and large, but the one I drove yesterday felt like a smaller car.
Deeply, deeply impressive machine.the torque from the engine is just fantastic.

Must have been something seriously wrong with the first one you drove! So the first one was a bit of a dog,it felt a bit wallows and large, but the one I drove yesterday felt like a smaller car.

Well now is a great time to buy - middle of a financial crisis with premium car resellers struggling (I refer to HR Owens Q2 performance as an illustration) - a good time to drive a bargain. Get it bought!
DBS Volantes still don't seem to be coming down enough. Admittedly the bottom of the market is now £3k below where it was this time last year but that's still (in my mind) far too high at £125k for a 2+ year old car when after the current discounts a new one can be had for £165-170k.Shmee said:

The dealers prerogative is to sell as high as possible, but ultimately to sell at all. It's best to ask for % discounts at this level, sounds less scary than - "I'd like to pay £12k less than that". bananarob said:

I dont find this unusual ,I have driven numerous cars where i have found this,I have driven 4 gt3s ,2 were epic, two I wouldnt wish on my worst enemy.Depends on how the car has been looked after ,the first one felt very loose and disconnected ,this one didnt ,weird but true.My car as well...driven numerous gallardos and a couple of them I really didnt like ,and yet a couple I loved.
When I dropped my car off for service I was given a lift to the station by a driver who was telling me how with Astons he can tell huge differences between cars that in theory have the same gearbox but just drive completely differently, that some are a delight and others just seem awful.

Wasn't Clarkson in a manual car on the telly last night? He seemed to be rather enjoying himself!
I would only have a manual, and to be honest its got so much torque you can leave it in 3rd i would imagine and it would cope with everything from 0-100mph so who needs an auto ?Mr Purple said:
I just got mine and absolutely love it. Have a go in a touchtronic , i thought i wanted a manual until i tried one. Happy days
honestly a huge part of its appeal to me is that it can be had in manual form, although I appreciate the convenience of an auto or robotised manul/dgs etc I have a very strong preference for manual gearchanges.Keep working hard anythings possible!
I never thought I'd have anything like a bds but have had it for about a month now and WOW! What a car and coming from a Ferrari man that's something!
Early coupes are going for good money now but be careful and patient look for a good one and be picky!
It's a lot of hard earned cash so spend wisely.
