Hello
I am new to AM ownership and have recently bought a V8V roadster. It is a lovely car, but does need more power.
I am considering the complete Bamford Rose exhaust and airbox upgrade taking the power to approx 415-420 HP.

Has anyone else had this upgrade on a 4.3 and what was the result? Was there a noticable increase in power on the road? How was the drivability before/after?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, but I would like to know about the BR exhaust on a 4.3, the link provided is a full 4.3 to 4.7 conversion.
Cheers

Hi, a copy from my experience:
I am the proud owner of the white Vantage prepared by Mike (Rose Bamford).
This Vantage is my second and I know a little this car. I wanted to test another preparation and I contacted Mike. After several exchanges of emails, I decided to give him my car. Mike told me he wanted to put the parts itself (catalyst, exhaust manifolds, filters changes and air boxes).
During the installation of parts, I stayed with Mike and his mechanic who explained in detail the operations and their passion for Aston Martin.
The car was tested before the operation with a computer taking ODB2 validated to work before / after. The same operation was carried out once all the pieces were mounted on the car.
For information, Mike and his mechanic are arrived at 11 am and left around 2 am the next day.
Now my personal road tests.
The difference is really huge in driving pleasure. The engine is angry, climbs towers like never before. The sound of the exhaust is demonic.
In another post, I mentioned I my "stopwatch" in recovery of 80-120 km / h. Before, I was putting between 4.2 to 4.3 sec and 3.9 to 4.0 sec now. So I can "see" the gain and it's good to have numbers that I master.
Soon, the car goes back to Mike for a new development ;O)

PS: sorry for my englisch...

Well, after a chat with Mike at BR, I took the plunge and on Monday this week I dropped my 2007 4.3 V8V at Bamford Rose for induction air flow, exhaust manifolds/cats and exhaust system replacement to the rear box.
I collected the car today, 5 days later.

Bloody hell what a difference.

Much more responsive. A significant increase in performance. It accelerates hard from 3K RPM rather than a luke warm response only when your foot was flat to the boards and after 6K RPM.
Torque has been improved significantly and the car pulls very nicely across the whole rev range.

I kept the existing rear box and the noise is fantastic. Sounds much more purposful. They fitted a switch in the cabin so that I can engage/disengage the bypass valves in the exhaust. It really makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up!

If you have a 4.3 and want an upgrade to a 4.7. Don't do it, just give BR a buzz and release the power already under your bonnet.

Fantastic!

Hi MadMac,

That's a great review of the BR upgrade (something I've been looking at too). So let me clarify: you KEPT the original muffler (back box), is that right?

And no engine remap whatsoever?

Is the throttle response improved? One of the things I find extremely hard to get used to is how lazy the stock 4.3L throttle response is! Blipping and heel-toeing requires massive readjustment (keeping the foot a fraction longer in the throttle).

What you experience is why I had this upgrade done. It ticks all the boxes. I can now blip at will and heel toe. I kept the back box for a couple of reasons. The quick silver option was stupid expensive and Mike at BR advised me that the existing box offered the ideal back pressure for best torque.
The noise is trully biblical. Nothing like the original which shows just how much air flow has been improved.
Edited to add that no Re Map was required.

Has anyone done a similar exercise on the 4.7? Sort of might quite like to do it. I guess if I did my warranty would become void.

it can only affect the warranty on the exhaust you are taking off...nothing else, so dont worry

Ive never know a manufacturer be able to enforce it any other way...usually you may get scare tactics from dealers "well if you fit our official exhaust your warranty is unaffected" kind of thing...

so if you want an exhaust just fit one smile

I'm contemplating when to do this to mine.
