Hi

Time for my tracker renewal. Presently through Eurowatch Central Aston Martin-any alternatives?

Did you check first whether it actually makes any difference to your insurance quote? It didn't for me, so I haven't bothered. But then again, you might want it for peace of mind.

That's expensive - worth shopping around for insurance and adjusting the value of the car for it may fall below the threshold for a tracker.

I agree but not that simple Im afraid -I have N insurance policy set up in such a way that keeps the price reasonable-but they insist on a tracker so Im hoping someone will point me in the direction of a cheaper company

seems steep to me - when I got the car, I intended to keep longer than 2 years, so paid the tracker lifetime, it was £300ish for as long as I own the car...that was back in 2007

To be honest a tracker is nigh on useless. If someone steals your car first thing they do is strip the tracker off.

If they are professional enough to steal a high marque car like Aston they are bound to know how to disable the tracker.

Sad but true.

CCTV, effective steering wheel locks are probably more effective IMO
I totally disagree with this comment.....tracker recovery rate is more than 90%.....my M3 was stolen and recovered 20min after I called tracker......they have so many places to hide the GPS unit it would be difficult for a thief to find it that quickly......normally they steal the car and leave it somewhere for 24 hours to see if its recovered.

with regards to stealing the car.....dosn't matter if its an Aston or a Ford Ka.....most cars are stolen via the keys, so the "quality" of the thief is the same

There is a good argument about if you want your stolen car found and recovered but that if a different issue......the fact is recovery rates are very high

I pay £149 per year

This is the current going rate for Eurowatch. Not sure why OP is being quoted £500 confused

It does give peace of mind and is required for most insurance policies. John G1 has pointed out the one flaw in the Tracker set up in that it is GSM based and can be blocked by pros. Sure, Eurowatch will know the car has been taken but they won't have a clue where it is. smile

tracker, direct ...it was just under £150 a year at the time or £300 ish "lifetime" (not life of car, just your ownership) so I went for the lifetime option and never paid since
