Spoke to the man in charge at Work Service on Wednesday. Asked what they could do to my V12V.

Answer: nothing.

Asked for a price for a boxed 1-77 engine.

Answer: not for sale.

I always thought works service were able to work magic; seems that ain't so...

I'd call Mike at Bamford Rose and ask him to shoehorn it into my V12V...

Methinks your future adaptations John, post warranty, will only be accommodated by Bamford Rose.

WS are not joking when they say 'nothing'.

Mind you, the way you're heading you will have a bionic car by then anyway smile

Can you not go direct to Cosworth for the engine?

I know of a bloke who had Keke Rosberg's FW08 refurbished, including having a new engine made at Cosworth. They will do anything for a price I suspect smile

I don't know anyone at Cosworth so it'll be a bit tricky.

I also suspect that they have an exclusive agreement with AML.

I wonder what it would cost as a box engine. Gut feel is between £50,000 and £100,000. But that's back of a fag packet based on some googling.

I know the exhaust system would cost £30,000 or so as it's made from inconel and has a lot of complex shapes...

Why not order a new V12V Zagato and then see what WS can offer as special order items on that! scratchchin

Why? They cannot do anything to my V12V so why should they be able to do anything to the same drivetrain with a different body? Or have I missed something?

For £400,000 I'd rather buy an XJ220, an mp4-12C and a full fat range rover. And have money left for a mars bar!

I suspect they might be more willing to consider it if you are buying one of the few Zagato's as you are one step closer to being a 1-77 buyer!

It doesn't have to be identical to the One-77 engine does it? I mean, what is to stop them boring it out to 7.3L and having vaguely similar (but different enough to not cause legal issues) new components? Would probably cost more though, as you're paying for design and manufacture, as opposed to just making an existing design.

As for inconel... horrible stuff to work with, not surprised it's £30k. Pretty cool to see it being machined though.

Or you could take it to RSC and have it supercharged. That seemed to prove popular last time it was mentioned hehe

I was clearly told that there was nothing they'd do. I don't think it was anything to do with how much money I'd spend - the gentleman I spoke to simply said it's not something they do.

Yeah, then fail an MOT so have to be re-catted each time you go for your MOT.

Unless you can possibly believe that some garages will give a pass to a car that should be a fail in exchange for a few pounds?

What is a MOT? Is that the reminder thing that means its time to sell your car?

confused

Yes. It's for wealthy folks to be reminded to engage in another bout of Keynesian pump priming and inject money into the economy.

Hey, why not just go buy a new car right now?

If you replace the secondaries with a high-flow cat you probably won't run into any problems. It's downstream from O2 monitoring, and since there MOT stations wouldn't even notice.
