4.7 V8 Vantage.
Discussion
Spent yesterday afternoon at Thruxton on a "drivers experience" with their 4.7 Vantage.
I'm no fast driver , but the 4.7 is appreciably quicker than my 07 plate 4.3 . The 4.7 was running on Pirelli tyres as opposed to Bridgestones. Much better gearbox with no stiffness between 1rst and 2nd gear , with a fair bit more low down " grunt."
The first chance I have had really to drive any Vantage at speed around bends .
It's not until you drive around somewhere like Thruxton that you can appreciate just what a capable car the Vantage really is.
I was impressed !
If you haven't done it , well worth a try .

I have driven the 4.7 a few times and found it much better if you are lazy and rely on the low down grunt, you don't have to be exact in terms of what gear you are in for any given corner. But if you get it right and keep the 4.3 on song then there is little in it. Also the peaky nature of the 4.3 and the harder work make it have more character IMO.
Ps nice way to spend an afternoon, thruxton is great!
