Decided to join you all. Been from an Elise through the TVR world and have settled for the moment on a V8 Vantage. After having a read round here looks like it was the right choice too as I don't haven't grown a pipe or slippers yet wink I was planning on waiting until next spring as I'm working out the country for a few months this winter but then got looking at the classifieds as you do and ah well you know what happened next......

damn it smile

Hi DM and welcome, looks like a damned fine car you have there!
No doubt one of the beige crowd will be along shortly to put you right about driving boys toys, but if you read them carefully they give stuff away by referring to "when I was a boy... ( or girl of course!)......."

Ps, keep this between ourselves best if they don't think we have been talking about them!

Good Starter level, DM.

Many people use the V8V as a springboard for better things.

Enjoy your initiation, hope you gravitate to the more sophisticated DB9 in the not-too-distant-I-don't-know-what-I'm-on-about future.

PS. Gorgeous car smile

Glad to have another of the 'younger' Aston owners with the proper car!

Cheers, it's an early 07MY so ended up with the later seats, lighted doorhandles, all that sort of jazz. Black leather/white stitching. The previous owner spent some money mid life adding bluetooth and some other bits which has saved me the hassle.

Anyway I've already had a play with that fuse 22 thing I keep reading about on tinterweb. Can't decide if it's better in or out though tbh. On one hand I like rumbling slowly around at low revs but on the other I do rather like the barking contrast at 4k. I've short shifted whilst trying to put on some load to try and show it on the video but I think it gives the idea.

Fuse In or Out?
How to

Nice car mate! Welcome. Interesting one this, mine F22 is back in after 5 years out, and as you say I am liking the transition when I am on it, with stealth mode when not.

They are already! Can't say I'm not tempted to leave it (anything for them is a bonus after a decated Elise and an obnoxiously loud TVR!) biggrin

I assume it just worked straight away when you put it back in - No problems with the valves sticking after such a long time??

Best compromise is to fit a remote switch (very easy). Then you can "de-fuse" in town and frighten old people, and "re-fuse" on the B-roads when you need a little more low-down torque.

Yer was a little concerned about that, but all was ok, started working straight away. I do like the idea of a switch.

OK, maybe I'm a twonk but... Watching the video, I couldn't hear a huge difference! As it happens, I removed my fuse today....but I don't hear a big difference in mine either.

Lovely looking car. I think clear rear lights will just finish it off though smile
