I'm thinking of changing my V8V coupe for a V8V roadster (before the forecast snow arrives hopefully!) It'll be a 3-4 year-old car. How long can I expect the roof to last without fading, tearing, mechanical issues etc? Are there any recurring issues that other owners have had, which I should look out for? I'll be buying through an AM dealer so will have at least one year's warranty. Many thanks.

who knows? I guess it depends on use rather than age, as some roadsters will be 4 year old garage queens whereas others may have lived outdoors for the last 4 years

I dont think any are old enough yet to make any meaningful judgements...maybe when there are a few thousand 10 year old ones perhaps you will find anecdotal owner feedback

Im probably going to change my 5 year old coupe for a 3 year old roadster next year, im not worried about issues on such a new car, built to modern durability standards smile

My Westminter Green roof is on a 2006 car, looks brand new! They're pretty durable these days, the DB7 used to rub on it's mechanism and wear through - not so on the DB9.

I've had roadsters for too many years!
The determining factors are UV, usage & storage.

UV degards most roofs over time, you can buy treatments to help, I use 303 fabric protectant
Using it more obviously folds it more, having said that keeping it clean also helps. Including the roof liner which brushes the roll hoop casing and gathers dirty each time the roof goes down.
Storage is critical, if you leave it outside and let moisture freeze on/in it you are going to get more wear an tear, especially as it cycles in temperature. Watch out for putting it down with the fabric frozen or stiff wink

One thing to look out for - the middle support bar between the layers can wear through the layers, partially open the roof and you will be able to inspect it.

I use this stuff http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/303-high-t...

BTW the Vantage is the only Aston Roadster wink

As above - the roofs are pretty sturdy... Mine lives garaged, but gets used frequently. The roof is definitely in top nick (57 reg car)... I would say the AM roof weathers far beeter than the Porsche one, which tended to get lots of marks on it.

Sadly though, it is time for me to sell.... :-( .... and buy a new one! :-))
