Although I have followed this forum for some time, this is my first post, and I am looking for your help & advice.

Having owned my v12v for 3 months and running up a modest 1000 mile, I find I have a flat on the rear. The tyres if on from new have done 5K miles and have just under 5mm tread to go.

Do I have any real option that replacing both rears - that will set me back nearly £1000?

For some reason my car has Michelin Pilot Sport rather that the standard Pirelli Corsa's. I am curious how this might happen (my local Aston Garage has no info about these) - of course it is possible that these are the second set. Also does anyone have experience of these over the Corsa's? I have read a number of threads and would be happy to have a tyre that compromises a bit of that "track" grip for more all round performance.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

PS. picture coming soon....

Yes this has been discussed a lot - try the search button above.

Dealers will always tell you to replace the tyre but then why wouldnt they as they are trying to sell you a new tyre, or even two new tyres! Providing the puncture is within the repairable area there really isnt any problem repairing it - and check it yourself, dont rely on them as they will always tell you "ohh yes sir, its in the sidewall". I have a repaired puncture on rear corsa on my V12V which happened within the first month of ownership, and Ive never had any problems at all.

Print this gauge off to check if it can be repaired yourself. http://www.etyres.co.uk/repairable-area-gauge

The rims are standard v12v set, and the tyre spec looks the same as the Pirelli's, so:
front 255/35ZR19
rear 295/30ZR19

All it says on the tyre wall is Michelin Pilot Sport. So not the Super Sport or the Cup. Pretty sure it is this model:

Just checked and there is a little more info: 295/30ZR19 (100Y) PS2 XL (extra load) ~think they are probably used by Porsche

To answer your question, the Pilot Sports (and several other tires) will have longer tread life. The PZero Corsas are great in terms of performance (very sticky), but the compound is soft and will wear quickly.

I think that car is still Mako Blue but is an ex-press car.

Not blue, here is the car. Not much time to take pics, this is the best I have at the moment.
