DBS - What to look for ?

Calling all DBS owners - i'm about to take the plunge and am looking at a car on monday - what should i look for ? any ownership issues ? All views welcome
Manual or auto? Volante or coupe? New or pre-owned? Not too many DBS owners on here and can't think of too many issues discussed... just the usual squeaky brakes, though disc warping and subsequent wheel wobble is a little more insidious. As far as i know, no resolution, just the dealer attempts to refit and balance them?
Tyres need to be warm to work though it shouldn't be a problem in this weather.
If it's a DB9 Sports Pack tuned up a few notches, should be an amazing car - enjoy and report back

I don't believe CCM discs can warp because of their structure. They can chip, however, which is a whole 'nother issue.
Great car overall.
Reports on here and AMOC of wheel wobble and discs out of balance and being rebalanced. Maybe not warped but they act like it on all accounts. Great car overall.

Oftentimes warped discs aren't really warped per se. Instead the problem stems from uneven transfer of the pad material to the rotor surface causing high and low spots that create the sensation of a warped disc. This can happen, for example, when you apply the parking brake after getting the discs very hot after a spirited run. When rotors are turned on a lathe it removes the pad material deposits and evens out the surface. Of course, turning the disc also removes some of the metal which causes the discs to overheat more easily. I don't believe you can turn CCM rotors, though.http://www.amoc.org/component/option,com_wrapper/I... Car is 1 owner manual with fsh from a Aston dealer . I currently have a Elise but am struggling nowadays with the lack of refinement and thought now is the time to move up. I was looking at granturismos then thought maybe Aston instead. I noted the these ceramic discs issues , any known issues with the motor? It seems to have been around a while ?

BIG size difference!Buy from a dealer with some factory warranty (less than 3 years old) you then have some time to sort any niggles which AM are good at doing.
My elise was suppose to be my stepping stone to the big league 10yrs ago - it never happened and i just stuck with it over the years - its a nice little car 1 owner 30k FSH , garaged and never wanted for anything . Then little junior arrived 9mnths back and so my little toy hasnt enough space 3 into 2 dont go! So an opportunity to get my supercar ownership back onto track has come , and to be honest i quite fancy it , so wish me luck everyone - i'm going in probably Tuesday
The DBS is a lovely car but I think you need to spend some time with it. It's a big heavy metal GT.
I really recommend test driving a few - get some miles in and see if you like it.
It's more of a torque monster than your Lotus and the CCM brakes are amazing. But it will feel very different.
Enjoy Monday

Had an MY10 for last 14 months without issue. Posted an initial review back in august if you're interested. 5k miles later I'm no less positive, every drive puts a smile on my face and turns every head in it's wake. Ive read a few issues around wheel wobble at higher speeds but can't speak from experience.
It's a very diverse car, comfortable and smooth as a GT on long drives to a great sports car experience on country roads. Push the sport button and it takes the car to another level. I read comments from some the DBS experience is not a true sports car one, I disagree whole heartily. I find both performance and handling better than my previous 4.7 sportspack, almost on a different plain. Also having driven numerous other top end supercar brands on and off the track, the DBS holds it's own in my opinion. Spend a day doing a PDC at millbrook and a track day at silverstone and you will find out it's true potential....

You are tending to confuse the effects of warping with balance. Warping produces brake pedal pulsation while balance produces steering wheel vibration/judder. My point was that CCM discs probably cannot warp because of their material, that's all. Warping is usually caused by excessive heat, poor materials, inadequate cooling or disc mass, etc., probably none of which apply to CCM discs.
I don't think I'm confusing anything with anything else - just posting a link I remembered reading on AMOC However warping on the front discs (of steelies) will also send shivers through the steering wheel as well as the pedal, obviously not with the rears! I agree I don't see how a CCM discs would warp in the same sense as a steel disc - always a temperature issue; rapid heating, cooling or holding heat in one place.
