My drivers side door handle light stopped working......(illuminates the place to push to make the door handle pop out...I believe someone said 2007 onwards do this).

Checked the fuses all ok.

The warranty has one week left so I get it checked into the dealer local to me (just in case). I am pleased I did as they told me it's not a simple bulb but rather the fact that the LED is 'all part of the mechanism' ...it's all being taken care of by the warranty company and it's only 0.75h job plus £120 for the part so not a massive expense but it just annoys me that it seems the throw away society mentality has hit again, what a waste of parts!!!

To late...... £120 quid for a 10p LED has got to be a bargain in anybody's bookrolleyes

hehehehe
It's a joke isn't it?.....can't blame Aston for the price of the complete part I guess but who ever manufactures it so you can't just whip out an LED needs a public flogging! James - Bring me the birch twigs!

But surely the worst case scenario is that it is soldered in and covered in some form of resin.
Perhaps Rick at DMS can confirm. The TVR boys would be up to their armpits in fastenings and aryldite by now.
If it is a warranty cover then let them get on with it but shrouding cars in unrepairatanium only lines the dealers pockets. Lets get repairing!!

100% agree. Can you get the old one? I'd be well prepared to "ave a go". What's the worst that could happen?

On a similar vein. When my car goes in for its 1st service in a couple of weeks they are also repainting the drivers door handle which is bubbling. All agreed, but perhaps I'm wrong but wouldnt it be easier and less labour hours to just replace it with a new one and sort the old one out later.

I guess maybe there aren't too many painted handles lying around.

And as an ex TVR boy, let me tell you, if any of the tuppeny hapeny things go wrong on my car, they'll be on the bench and in bits in no time...

Nothing to lose at the end of the day...... If it can't be fixed you have to buy a new one anywaysmile
I'm going to ask for the old part so I can tinker..... at the end of the day it is a warranty job so not bothering get my precious little hands dirty (in a weeks time when the warranty has run out it will be a different story!)
