Just got back from a long trip down the M1 tonight and had what I felt was unacceptable wind noise (lots of opportunity for funny comments but...) which seems to coming from around the door mirrors/windows - anybody else had this?

Also, on certain parts of the road where the surface was poor i.e. not the recently extended and re-surfaced parts, the roar from the tyres was almost deafening, the car is 2 years old with 6k miles and the original tyres - am I being too sensitive?

Thanks, Keith.

not being unreasonable. But yes. that's part of Aston ownership experience (perhaps excluding Rapide and Virage - hopefully)

At 75 mph, I get wind noise around the mirrors and tyre noise at most times. A GT it aint (i'm in a DBS FYI)

Apologies if this sounds like a stupid comment - but are you sure your windows are fully up? As they drop a few mm on door opening, it may be worth checking they've automatically gone back up. Soemtimes worth dropping them a bit, then bring back up to ensure they are fully closed,

I disagree it is a GT more than a sports car.
I had 2 year old roadster for 12k miles and with the roof up it was quieter than my Volvo.
OP - Do a window learn as they may not be going fully up. Are the tyres the correct AM9 Bridgestones and what condition are they in? RE050's do get a bit noisey and slippery below 3mm of tread. If you are still concern get a dealer to check it under warranty.

Me too (and yes, the windows are fully closed).

+1

Some road surfaces really do make the tyres roar. These are the ones that render the phone installation as good as useless for the other party.
Other (more modern) road surfaces slip almost silently under and the car kit is then ok.
It sounds pretty typical to me. I questioned wind noise early on in ownership, seems it's pretty normal.

Make sure there isn't a gap between the front edge of the drop glass (where the glass leaves the mirror seal) and the door seal. If you can get a finger nail in it could probably do with raising up slightly. Make sure the cheater panel (the black plastic panel on the back of the door mirror that closes on to the seal) is fitted properly too.

Good advice from all so thank you. I did check the windows to ensure that they were going fully up so that is not the issue, the other suggestion around the seals is a good one as I can see a slight gap there - the car is going to Stratstones Amersham for its 2 year service next week so I will get that looked at.

As for the tyres, way over 3mm of tread left, correct pressures and in good condition but will get Amersham to check them out as well just in case I have missed something.

Thanks again everybody.

Keith.

I find that there is quite a bit of wind noise at speed from the mirrors also. I have the newer, larger mirrors, which may contribute to this. Doesn't really bother me though because I can open up the exhaust flaps or turn up the stereo.

Wind noise is not a problem. I do have the smaller mirrors, in case that makes a difference.

Tire roar, OTOH, is quite annoying. So much so, that I've decided to go with another brand of tire when it comes time to replace—which should be by year's end. I've had luck with Goodyear F1 and Michelin PS2, so it'll prolly be one of those.

There is far less tyre roar when travelling on continental roads. I blame the cheap and nasty surface dressings used by short sighted penny pinching councils. Around this neck of the woods the rare stretches of smooth surfaced roads have been ruined by PC rumble strips, rough red tarmac, humps and thickly painted SLOW signs mad

Very little wind noise in my car (MY09 Coupe). Tire noise is plentiful, though.
