Firstly the spelling of 'learnt' rather than 'learned' which hopefully I believe is more Americanised !!!!

Ok enough of that. Next week I am having an operation on my left shoulder (ahh, bless, ) E cards choccies grapes etc to usual address.

This does mean I probably won't be able to drive my car for a few weeks. I know, I should have bought a car with a paddle shift !!!

So, I am going to miss my 1st year anniversary of owning my V12V, so what, if anything, have I learnt from a year of ownership?

I have learnt that the V12V is still one of the most beautiful cars available.
I have learnt I am a very lucky lady to have such an exclusive car. One of 1000 worldwide, thats incredible.
I have learnt that the V1V is one of the most forgiving cars to drive I have ever owned. So easy in traffic, yet so exhilarating when pushed.
I have learnt, via a Performance Driving Course how to get a leeetle bit more from her safely.
I have learnt that tyres are rare and expensive.
I have learnt that she's expensive to run but worth it.
I have learnt that PH Aston owners are enthusiastic, knowledgeable, humorous , helpful, supportive and a constant source of generally good advice and friendship. Thanks to all.
Ok, I have also learnt when to shut up.
So, here's to the next year, I hope to be back in the saddle soon. beer

Is it your rotator cuff? I just had arthroscopy done on my right shoulder (shifting arm here in the States), so I can empathize. It took about 5 weeks before I could start driving her again. It still hurts a bit to drive, but I won't let that stop me. Best of luck with the surgery, and hopefully you'll be back behind the wheel in no time!

Get well soon Di, see a decent physio and it'll be perfect again (I have one at home of course which helped my shoulder!)

You have my sympathies as I am going under the knife for a replacement left knee next Thursday and despite having a s/shift Vantage I still can't drive it for a whole six weeks! Apparently, for the insurers it's not so much about the driving but being able to quickly and safely exit the car in the event of something going wrong.

So, until around the middle of November all I get to do is watch the battery conditioner grumpy

Oh, and btw, if there are any posts from me on the evening of the 29th please ignore them as I shall almost certainly be as high as a kite and more unintelligible than usualsmile

Hey, didn't realise I was also a member of such an exclusive club.

Aston owners with 'rotor cuff surgery' (or whatever its called) .

Happy bunny now. Though might not be so chipper next week. I had my right shoulder done a few years ago after a fall down the stairs during building works. No OH didn't push me but he did crease up seeing me at the foot of the stairs in a heap, but still with an unspilt glass of wine in my hand.

I was driving within a couple of days, but this time my consultant has said weeks rather than days.

Wraps! mods! performance enhancement, pah!!! Thats nothing, you gotta have surgery to be truly exclusive.

Guess it must be much less severe than the stabalisation op I had on my shoulder a few years ago. Couldn't even take it out of the strapping for six weeks, and it was over four months before I could drive at all (I did have a TVR at the time, mind you!). Six weeks without a proper wash is not nice!
I learnt to do lots with my left hand, mind you ... wink

Di, best of luck with the op, no doubt you'll be twice as good as new very soon.

You have my sympathy with the driving - I had a hand op just a week after taking delivery of the V12.. no driving for 6 weeks.

a few more well wishes from me too Di.

I'm looking forward (massively) to getting back in my woefully underused V12V next week.

I drive it nearly every day in my dreams and it never even comes close to the real thing!

One of the downsides to working abroad.

Congratulations on your first year of Aston and V12V ownership. I bought mine last Christmas, so still a bit to go for me. Always been fond of a Christmas day run though, the roads are deserted.

Hey Di

God luck with the op. Hope you're back and recovered soon.
Reading the thread, we're a fragile lot aren't we!
Is it getting in and out of low slung cars that makes us so?

Are you sure this isn't an elaborate excuse to get a V8S (i.e. sportshift)? smile

Joking aside though, hope the op goes well and wish you a speedy recovery and belated anniversary drive in the V12V
