Hi,

I posted a few months ago opining upon whether to get a db9 or a vantage, and after the pipe and slippers ribbing I have succumbed to peer pressure and decided to get the Vantage.

I've noticed there's around a £5k difference between a 2006 and 2007 plates with the same amount of miles, other than age are there any mechanical / aesthetic differences?

Also being at the tender age of 28 I am surgically attached to my iPhone, is it an ar$e to install iPhone docks into these beautiful machines?

Finally, as this is going to be my first AM purchase I will only have the confidence to buy from a dealer and not risk going private, so how much can I realistically haggle from the dealer for example if the price is £43,500

Cheers,
B

I have a Dension 500 gateway in my DB9 that replaces the CD changer. It sits in the (otherwise useless) cupholder hole. For calls, it connects to the car's bluetooth.

2006 may have a heated front windscreen, 2007 may not (FoMoCo technology).
2006 may have a whip aerial, 2007 will have built into front windscreen
Dashboard looks different.
Note that the number plate and model year do not match up - about that time you will see some 2006 model year cars on 2007 plates and it gets a bit messy. Many 4.3 V8s were sold at big discounts when the 4.7V8 went into production and some were sold after more than one year after manufacture.

£43,500 - I doubt you will get much off from a main dealer.

Correct!
Mine is, had to look in Grant's book though to understand the differences between a MY06, a MY06.5 and a MY07. And thats before you get into all the optional extras that could be ordered.

Pretty sure bazzabee is asking about the differences between a model year 06 and model year 07. Whilst Grant's book will definitely help, he/she may have to wait a short while before obtaining a copy. A year ago I was looking at the 06 models, then an 07 model was presented to me; the seats were much nicer and the door handles light up (other minor differences are in the book). The difference in price was c. 4 to 5k but with the lower mileage of the 07 model, I decided to take that one and am very pleased I did. I understand the roof aerial change and new dash came in for the 4.7 and the price difference will be loads more that £5k.

From what I've seen, there was something of an evolution from the 06 to the 07 with changes coming gradually, rather than all at once. For instance, my car has the old dash and centre armrest, but the new seats. I drove an 07 V8 Roadster that had new seats, new central armrest, but old dash. I also drove an 06 DB9 that had all the old bits.

What they said .. thanks Mikey - DrC - Neil & HighRD thumbup

You can tell the model year via the cars VIN (to be sure - 10th digit), the iPOD connection wasn't standard until the 08MY (when there were also a number of other changes), but you can have an official retro-fit on an earlier car, but it isn't cheap at £1k +, maybe you could negotiate that into the deal if you can't stretch to an 08MY?

Seats are different. 2007 have stitching in the centre of the seat.

My car was built in October 2006 and has those seats. I suppose it's Model Year 2007.

Roof aerial was used through MY07 -- windshield aerial came with MY08, as did the revised center armrest with iPod stuff. New center stack was with MY09 and the 4.7. Note that the MY06 seats have side airbags for thorax protection, while the new-for-MY07 seats have side airbags that protect the head as well.

Yup, dealer told me they started making them around that time and, to his knowledge, Oct 2006 were the first MY07s. The 2007 registered MY06s were mainly dealer cars sat in showrooms etc. People wanted the MY07s so they took a while to shift the last few MY06s!

Not quite true. We have an early Sept 06 car that is MY07 (new seats, illuminated door handles)

Mine did have one 06 feature that was later missed: the heated windscreen. I'm going to miss that this winter.
