Well that didn't go very well.6 weeks into ownership of my 2007 Vantage,I'm returning it to the dealer and getting my old car back.It has got a few issues which are going to cost £3/4 k to put right. It's not the end of the world I suppose, the only down side is that I have a brand new set of Bridgestone's with no car to put them on.So do I get another one and hope it doesn't break or buy something else?My other slight problem is that the car I'm getting back after reversing the deal is a convertible which is going to very difficult to shift at this time of year.
Try and convince me to buy another one please.

you shouldnt need convincing mate, other than the issues youve had, you have owned one and know what they are like. If it gives you butterflys when you drive it or just want to keep driving for no more reason than because you want to, then get another one.....plus, what on the road looks better?

If not, then try something else.

Blimey, that didn't take long! Without naming and shaming the dealer, tell us the problems. Looked back at your posts and you seemed to really enjoy it - looked fantastic BTW. Was it main dealer or an Indy you bought it from?

Must have been pretty bad for the dealer to take the car back?

When I took it in for new tyres last week the garage I use said they would put it their Hunter 4 wheel alignment contraption to check everything was ok.Before they even put it on they noticed the front nearside wheel had loads of play on it and said it would need repair.I have used them a few times and totally trust them so asked if they could get a price for the part and fit it.I also asked them to price new disks as they are past their best. The price for the disks was fair enough about £700, but the part needed for the wheel cant be bought on its own so a whole new steering rack would have to be fitted at around £2K.So this fault coupled with other bits and pieces such as the corrosion started to make me think I had bought a bit of a lemon.I contacted the dealer and he agreed to reverse the deal which I think is fair enough.

Hope you get another, ownership is almost a universal pleasure as reported on here and the AMOC forum. At least the dealer is taking it back and your old motor is still there, must be something pretty fundamentally wrong with the car... Will await mre info!

If you don't want the tyres... drop me a mail if you need to let them go at a decent price smile

Dealer sounds good, to reverse the deal.

Nope, you need to convince yourself Lofty.

I would advise a speedy decision before parasite Yeti puts in an offer for your wife and Kids smile

Dont give up sunshine!!!

I too had a bad start with my V8V....

Lucky for me I had the garage by the short & curlies.. I now have a fantastic car that I love and enjoy every push of that button...

Every issue that could have been wrong with the car is now perfect and a premium warranty now gives a bit of peace of mind.

Do yourself a favour, check out the main dealers, find one you like and buy another one. You wont regret it. I will never buy an Aston from an indi ever again, private well kept example, checked 1st or main dealer only.

I would like another Vantage but I would only buy from AM dealer this time around .This will cost me about an extra £5k over what I paid for the 1st one due to higher prices at AM dealers and rubbish p/x prices they offer. If I was totally logical I should wait until after the winter as I can use the RS4 in all weather,it will be worth no less than it is now due to it being a convertible and will have a bit more spare dosh by then.Unfortunately it's hard for me to be logical when buying cars.I will be sad to see the Vantage go back tomorrow but I'm quite looking forward to driving the RS4 again, they are such good cars.

What offers are you getting for the RS4, if you don't mind me asking?

There ranging from £25/26k.I've put it on the classifieds, but I don't hold out much hope considering the way the market is and time of year.

The Vantage is back up for sale.! I'm going to give myself a couple of weeks to sell my RS4, if I have no luck I'll just wait until the spring. If I don't get another Vantage soon I probably sell the tyres as I don't really have anywhere to keep them, would anyone on here be interested or should I stick them on ebay?

Well after trying very hard to get a decent deal on Vantage I finally gave up.AM dealers were offering really poor part/x prices for my RS4,they don't seem to take any of their profit in the car they selling into account and were offering bottom trade price for my car (around £24k).Many of the cars I enquired about have since been reduced, in some cases by £5k,if they had offered me and extra couple of grand I would have bought one.I enquired about keenly priced R8 last week and was offered £29k for mine, hopefully I should be picking it up on Saturday.I will probably buy a Vantage at some point in the future, but I'm more than happy with a R8 for now.

The R8 is a lovely car - the values still seem pretty firm too. I'm sure it will be a fun car to own. Enjoy!
