I already posted the following on 6speed so I apologize if you've already seen my post there:

I was entering a destination into the fantastic sat nav system of my Vantage today and it stopped responding to my inputs. It then turned itself off and closed. I tried to turn it back on several times, but each time the system would open and then shut back down. I gave up on it and just used my iPhone to find the destination, but on the way there the stereo would momentarily cut out, the sat nav would automatically open itself, and then shut down after a few seconds. This happened every minute or so until I finally turned the car off for about 10 seconds at a stop light.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? The car's fine now, but my concern is that electrical/computer issues like this have a tendency to recur.

Rex, no kidding matey but this has been the experience of a couple of AMers in the last few weeks.

Please do a search over the last 4 weeks for the topic, otherwise I shall jump in and give you a hand smile

Wow, really? I thought it was a real longshot. Thanks, I'll see if I can find the other thread.

Are these units capable of updating themselves over the air? i.e. they "dial up" a server and download update code? Because it sounds just like broken update code.

Thanks Jockman. Seems like some strange things happen with these units.

I chatted with a couple of AM folks on 6speed and one of them mentioned that his sat nav (also in a V12V) locks up if he presses buttons too quickly in succession. I think this may have been what happened to me. I seem to recall hitting the "enter" button twice when entering my destination and the screen freezing. The fun began thereafter. In the future I will pause for a bit between button presses to see if this makes any difference. Will report back with any interesting observations.
