I am about to start a new job in the City, which means using the train and not being able to drive my 2008 AMV8 Vantage all week. At the weekend, given I have 2 small girls (1 and 3 years), I really cant see being able to drive it much at the weekend either. I reckon my yearly miles will go from 7000 to 1000.

I am thinking either
1. Sell it outright (I’ve got listed on PH now) and use the family car
2. Keep it – although I don’t really want a garage queen
3. Get a 4 seater (cant think of anything other than a 911, but they don’t really do it for me)

I've had this car a bit more than 2 years now and dont really want to part with it - I just cant see sense in having a car like this just to look at! There is nothing else I can think of that has 4 seats that makes me feel like 'I want one of those' either.

What do you guys reckon?

Just though of option 4 - dont take the new job - but that would be silly!

Drive to work! Find a garage. Or a basement car park. Simples

I work from home, have a family exactly the same ages as yours and I still managed to rack up 6K a year. You'll find a way I'm sure! Keep it I say!

I'd keep it or as already suggested a Rapide would fit the bill nicely. Hatchback, 4 seats and a dirty great V12
Failing that the Maser GranTurismo alegedly has useable rear seats, sports a V8 engine and is pretty if not quite in the V8V league. And it's not a porch.

You must be able to get kids aged 1-3 in the back of a DB9 easily.

There are car parks just outside the congestion charging area, that might help. There are 2 next to Tower Gateway station. Depends where you're coming from of course.

Find a way to justify keeping it. There are a lot of apartment owners/renters in and around the City who do not keep a car in town. They rent out their parking space at a cheaper price than paying for a car park space every day, plus usually more secure. Try small ads or estate agents.

Not that young (54) but not ready for a DB9 - just cos they look a bit'stretched' to me propertions wise, and I dont like auto's (I know there are some DB9 manuals but not many). Thought maybe keep it and see how many miles I actally do.

I am have been in the same situ for the last 3 years, not being able to use the Aston due to family activities. I have looked for 2+2's but none fit the bill (I have tried them all). I find the excuse time and then to take the Aston out and when I do it make me want to keep her more! So my advice is keep her and find excuses for blasts. I have a girl and a boy and they both love going out with daddy in the Aston, infact ask my son what he would like to do and a blast in the Aston is always number 1.

Kids that age will easily fit in the seats in the back of a 2+2 Evora. Looks stunning in Burnt Orange.

Plus 1

I work from home and co not need to drive much at all - my V8V has 3700 mikes on and it's 2 years old in November. If I'm honest I don't NEED it, butI want to keep it, so heart wins again!

Just been to Porsche Tonbridge to look at a 911, but its no Aston and, although my girls fit in it OK, it did not make me feel like I wanted one. Anyone had experience of a manual DB9? Are they any good, and if so, why so few around?

I have fond childhood memories of being driven around in a Maserati and Jag E-type—probably contributed to making me be the car-nut I am today. Do your kids a favor and keep the car. smile

Don't know if they are any good, but there are a couple on the classifieds:

Have you considered a Vanquish with the manual conversion?

If you decide you can't justify keeping the V8V, I'd agree with peterr96, even if it means leaving AM behind for a while -
