My Roof Broke...
Discussion
I'm sitting at the side of the road waiting for Aston Martin Assistance to come and help so I figured I could kill some time by making a thread.
I made a suicidal mistake of accidentally cutting out the engine before finishing the closing of the roof which has resulted in a very funny situation where the roof is basically in a shut position (not quite closed at the front though) but the rear shelf is open up behind it.
The car tells me that there's a roof failure and won't stop beeping and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do until they get here.
The good news is that I rang at 4.35 and they've told me someone will be here between 5-5.30 which is a lot better than Mercedes who took 90 minutes to get my Mother's new shape SLK when it broke down on day 5 yesterday!

C'mon, who's impersonating Shmee? If it was our Tim we would have a kerzillion pics plus a vid on youtube.
Sorry to hear and too late now, from a distant memory of my days in a Roadster I seem to recall there being a guide in the manual of how to sort the roof out manually if that makes sense!
I don't know if having done so it resets but like I say, if you have got rescue on its way it may help in the future.
However, my memory may be flawed and I am talking rubbish. Not for the 1st time.
Good luck.

I don't even have a roadster but I remember a post on here about how to resolve this. You have some really weird steps to go through but you can sort it out. If you are really bored by the roadside have a look back through the old threads. I am sure super Rick @DMS posted a "war and peace" opus on how to fix it!Sorry to hear and too late now, from a distant memory of my days in a Roadster I seem to recall there being a guide in the manual of how to sort the roof out manually if that makes sense!

So this is what it looked like:
But it basically required disconnecting the roof mechanism from battery and then 2.5 people, 1 to hold the rear shelf back (we used our heads) while 2 others folded the roof back down to the end position before putting the shelf back down and then hooking it all back up.
Not the hardest thing to do but couldn't have done it on my own.
Kudos to Aston Martin Assistance/The AA for being with me within 30 minutes though!!

Just out of curiosity, what's the pink thingy on your steering wheel?
Just a post-it note with the Aston Assistance phone number on that I had just written down because the one in my book is for cars older than Sep 2009 and mine's an Oct 2009 car.ETA: On which note, loved having a pen in the dashboard right there!

Does the roof not work without the engine being on - or was it just that you cut the battery off by turning off the key ?
It does no problemI had something similar when I was cleaning the inside of the lining.
It "relaxed" to the same position as Shmees when the hydraulic pressure drops off after ~5 mins.
We did the same as Shmee's "team" with out disconnecting the battery.
The procedure in the manual is actually pretty clear and straight forward.
