There are two black plastic trim pieces in the bottom corners of the boot.
One of them was broken off during a service last week, and there's a green plastic "cap" under there - not sure if it's covering a tube or a bar. Anyone know what it is (and why it would need to be accessed during a service)?

Two of the three adjusters/retainers for each the rear lights!

ETA - no idea why they would disturb them unless you raised issues with the rear lights?

The one's I mean are at the back of the boot (i.e. nearest the passenger compartment), not near the rear lights.

I believe those elliptical 'eggs' you mention fasten the carpet to the fuel tank cage that sits quite high because of the rear wheel drive system.
Ah, so they may have needed to remove the carpet for some reason (though can't imagine what!). Hard to see how they could break it if it wasn't removed. Another one for my list of complaints, then!
