I guess by now that some of you realise just how pleased I am with the new one. Can someone explain this ? I am mechanically sympathetic and have treated the S as I believe it should. Upto the first 1000 miles the acceleration is so much more than my V8V. Arriving at 5500 revs little red light comes on . Time to flick paddle, change up! Post 1000 miles revs soar past 5500 up to just under 7000rpm during which time it has gone mental! Molly exclaimed " Bloody Hell What is Happening" I promise this is not my imagination. Have those Boys at AM told it to be naughty after completing 1000 miles. I promise you this is fact.
Mikey when you get yours please cofirm!
Hill Assist is downright brilliant! The only time that I put the handbrake on is in the garage.
Turn in is so much faster easier than the V8V. Front wheels are a bit of a sod to clean because the discs are so big
So far in 8 weeks I have not bothered to tune the radio in or load any CD's or use the Sat Nav! The simple reason being, I love it!
Every time I take her out, she is cleaned loved and respected.

Ho Hum, I take your point. Please recall that Molly was not informed of the last purchase. Probably a bit risky to repeat the exercise. Having said that what else is there? I have downloaded all the new 911 stuff, not for me I'm afraid. How about a Nissan GTR? Hell of a car! Maybe a Italian thingy,No! To be honest I love our ASTON, hard to exlain but I do. To go into the garage shut the doors and just look at it is a priviledge indeed. Do you know I will not get in it unless I am dressed for the occasion! Respect that is the word!

Rob, as I explained in Mikey's thread on running in the V8V-S, the ECM is programmed to limit your revs until you drive the first 2KM (1243 miles). So it's not your imagination.
Here's what I posted:
From the Transmission section of the Vantage V8 Owner's Manual:
"For the first 1243 miles (2000km) and whenever the engine temperature is below 104F (40C) the shift conitrol will indicate early shift changes to protect the engine."
Those who have tested this have discovered that the rev limiter kicks in if you attempt to exceed this lower rev limit until the break-in period is exceeded.

I know what you mean. I mentioned in passing to a friend I wanted to lose some weight as I didn't want to be a fat pie eater who owns an Aston. Only to be overheard by my wife who quite rightly mentioned that this implied I thought it was previously acceptable to be fat and take my wife out. Rob
The hidden joys of Aston Martin ownership.

Before buying my V8V, I was utterly convinced I wanted a GT-R... but it's too full-on and the servicing requirements seemed pretty horrendous. If I had all the money in the world I'd keep one as a Sunday car for sure though! As for the Italian thingy... I fell in love with a Maserati but the inspection found some suspect things, and research into the costs involved gave me a heart attack. Likewise with a 360, looks and sound to die for, but scary maintenance and repair bills put me off.Rob
A couple of months down the line, I feel the 4.3 is definitely underpowered... I'll start saving for a V8S or a V12, your enthusiasm is infectious!
Good to know you two are still enjoying it, it is by all accounts a thing of wonder. Would love to have a drive with a sportshift car, the only 'similar' thing I have had is my TouchTronic DB7 or my TipTronic 964... both auto rather than robotic manual and neither very involving!
Look forward to seeing it at Le Mans next year

+2 Martin and Rob.I needed a small amount of fuel in my car today, before leaving the country, but I was wearing my jeans at work. So I waited until I was at a meeting tonight in my chinos etc. Sounds really daft but I do feel the 'sense of ocassion' in using the AM.
Made a big mistake of mentioning Karen wasn't wearing any make-up in the car the other day.
Won't do that again...

Excellent Rob! I think my 4.3 is fantastic, just adore it, there is just something about them. I can't think of anything else in this class of car i'd like myself however I do like the Caterham that has just joined the Aston in the garage
