Hello chaps, this is my first foray into the AM section...

I'm seriously interested in a 70's DBS and have found what looks to be a nice one near(ish) - being sold privately, used lots (which I like) and looks terrific to my uneducated AM mind.

So, 1971 AM DBS - can anyone give me the low down on what to expect from ownership? If I bought this or similar it would be garaged in an air chamber but used relatively regularly - probably 3000-5000 miles per year, most of which would be the longer European classic car rallies/races etc.

This is the motor in question:

You don't need it.

Give the money to charity instead.

It will make you feel eminently better smile

Suggestion: Buy it and leave instructions in your will that the proceeds of the sale of your beautiful Aston Martin are to go to charity. Result: Everyone happy, even Jockman.

...that is provoded that there will be any money left over once the maintenance and restoration bills have been paid.

And we arrive at the nub of the issue...

Anyone have any experience of keeping on top of a V8 DBS?

Are you really in the best position to take the piss out of accents, or being tight with money? biggrin

Plus Skipton is only 25 mins from me, we don't all speak like that round here!

Really? Gosh! I thought everyone from North of Watford had a central casting comedy accent. I really must get out more....

Much nicer than the accents from Daahhhn saarf (anywhere south of Manchester just to clairify) though.
