According to different sources the revised DB9 and DBS will be introduced in late 2012. And it will be much more than just a facelift: One-77 grille (at least for DBS), new interior, improved V12, reduced weight, etc.. But how does the Virage fit into the scenario? My guess is that it will be discontinued (2013 DB9 = current Virage further improved). What do you think?

The DBS is getting a One-77 grill? God I hope not.

I suspect the Virage will stay in production until a year later when the DB9 replacement is due.

This is depressing, I won't want a DBS if it's going to be an 'old' model i.e. the new one is a significant facelift. Oh well time to work hard and save the pennies for the new one!

Take a look at these pics:

The cockpit clearly looks different than in current models. Also the rear is more Vantage-like (number plate in the bumper). So it's definitely a significant facelift, more upgrade than update.

An interesting fact about the Virage I gleaned from my dealer is that Virage VINs continue sequentially from DB9 ones, whereas the DBS ones are in a different sequence. He expected to receive no new DB9 stock after this year. They have none at the moment.

Well, that makes sense, because Virage = inofficial DB9 replacement. If I were in the market now, I (and probably most others too) would spend a few grands more and get a Virage instead of a DB9.

Ya I would agree.... it is however a shame they do not offer the virage with a manual gearbox. If I were going to buy a Aston right now I'd try to find a nice used DBS, would probably hold its value much better than a 2011 DB9 etc. Although I really think the DB9 coupe with manual box will be a classic years from now.

I really hope the current v12 get direct injection, variable valve timing, individual throttle bodies etc. I think with improvements like this you could easily see it producing 600 in a road car and still being easier on the environment etc. Obviously less weight is always welcome as well.

On an R&D budget of £8.5 million - which includes Virage? Wishful thinking....
A decent exhaust system will produce +40bhp (ish) on top of 510bhp. Plus Vanquish S heads etc. No need for the rest. See the Bamford Rose sticky.

I have a feeling that A.M. will push further upmarket with the new DBS coming first and the new DB9 replacement leap-frogging the Virage, but Aston play their cards (& cars!) very close to their chest, so ultimately none of us will know until next year.
