Had problems with 1st to 2nd ever since ive had the car asked my dealer Grange Exeter if this would be covered under warranty the answer was no.
My question is this, is the thing covered or not?
Hi Blokie,My question is this, is the thing covered or not?
I am sure there is a service bulletin on this - if you use advanced search you can probably pull up the exact ref # to give the dealer. As the warranty is essentially an insurance policy - I would suggest it's negotiable. I believe DMS's website also has some useful info on this.
Cheers
Kris
Cheers Kris, yes i did read that one some time ago but it still seems to be the same problem this 'negotiable' thing. if there is a problem then one assumes that it should be fixed unless it isspecifically not covered under the warranty. I dont see why i need to 'negotiate' with my dealer if you see my point, you should get the same level of service from all the dealers without the need to go down that road.

My point being with all this is why is there no consistancy thorugh the dealer network?
Partly the fault of the warranty company (extended warranty despite the branding has nothing to with the factory). The warranty company like all insurance companies like to say no. Its then down to how good your dealer is arguing the case for you.Re the gearbox specifically, remember a thread a while back about it, which was implying if the fixes were not carried out in the 3 year manufacturer warranty the extended warranty company would then turn down requests to pay for the fixes - something along the lines of its not broken, just an improvment IIRC.
Have personally found phoning up the warranty company direct and arguing can be more productive than leaving it to the dealer (mine was not gearbox related though)
Well, I had the service bulletin modification for the 1-2 shift done to my car last week. The verdict? I honestly can say that there is no discernible difference. I'm glad this was done under warranty because I would be quite disappointed if I had paid for this modification considering the lackluster results.
I have heard that changing the transaxle fluid to Royal Purple makes a significant difference, but then again, the person who made that claim has made some extraordinary claims on the AM 6speed forum, so I am a bit skeptical. I brought my car in to have RP fluid put in my V8V to see if it would help, but ended up buying a V12V off the showroom floor instead, so I never got a chance to see.
See here one of my experiences with a so-called warranty.
