When I climb out of the Vantage after a drive there is an immense amount of heat emanating from the engine and center section of the car. I realize that the cats are located in the center, in line with the door openings so the heat would rise along the sides, but the amount of heat is amazing. My Esprit gets nowhere near this hot after a "spirited" drive and I can see the exhaust manifold and turbo glowing magma red in that car. The temperature in my garage after I climb out of the Vantage is so uncomfortably hot that it is unbearable to stand there for more than half a minute before breaking into a ball of sweat. It takes about an hour for the heat from the engine to come down to a tolerable level.

Does your car do this as well?

Well not sure about unbearably hot but I certainly see the heat haze rising from the bonnet vents when stationary in traffic etc. I also noticed the car heated the garage up on the few occasions I put it in there. I guess it's a big lump but as long as the temperature gauge remains in about the middle then it will be fine (probably!).

I keep a fan in my garage and turn it on for an hour or so.
Depending how I parked my car I would put it facing the radiator or the exhaust.
( only in the hot summer days )

Yes, my Rapide does that too! Garage Gets very hot. Didn't notice it on the Vantage, though.

Does your espirit have catalytic convertors as well?

Modern cars with catalysts run hot when compared to a non-catalytic car.

Mine's parked with plenty of free flowing air around it, so never noticed it.

Karl, i see you live in florida where the ambient temperature at the moment is in the mid 30's.
This will have a direct effect on the running temerature of your car. Depending on where you read cat's operate at about 600 degree's centigrade, however with little airflow when stationary and in a high ambient temperature this can easily exceed 900 degree's C. Its nothing to worry about though
