Guys

My aston is playing up. The heated seat on my v8v 2007 model cannot be turned off despite the switch being in the off position and the light off.

Any idea how to turn it off by pulling a wire? My back is burnt. Please help!!!_

Thanks!

Check your Manual.

On my DB9 the Fuse is in the Cabin Fuse Box, F60 - 15A Drivers seat heater.

Check if it is happening to your passenger side too, as this may be on a separate fuse (F61) smile

So its fuse controlled then? Should at least make it easy to switch off. I never use it, so may just leave the fuse out!

Thanks for the advice.

All electrical items have a fuse for them.

You'd be better off getting it looked at it though. Especially if it's burning you rather than just making your arse clammy. Something's not right and masking problems by pulling the fuse (an OK temp fix for this one) is a recipe for you forgetting stuff and leaving it in that state at sale time (not good).

Are the fuses specific to heating? The owners manual, for the 07 V8V just says 'seats' for 61 and 60 which implies that removing them may also deactivate the movement.

I guess that you'll soon find out although the cabin fusebox isn't as easy to access as the one in the boot.

In the workshop manual 60 and 61 specifically note "heating".

Murphy, do you have an 07 vantage?

I don't want to disable the electric movement just the heater!

Very odd that it won't turn off, normally its the other way round!

Yes I do.

Never had this problem (I think someone else did a while ago - try a search), but it will take you 15mins to pull the fuse and try it. If it kills the seat movement switches, you put it back in and go off and get your seats fixed wink

If it helps, fuses 84 and 85 are for the seat power and switch packs...

Hmm. My driver's seat has felt warm lately even though the switch is in the off position. I simply assumed that it is because of the Florida heat and the fact that the car gets so warm while driving. Now you've got me thinking about whether the warmer is on all the time.

You're absolutely correct on 84 & 85, I hadn't checked other fuses just the ones Jockman mentions. Fuse 61, as shown on the 07 online Owners Manual, simply states 'Passenger Seat' which is a bit odd as it's different to yours.

Please remember chaps mine is a DB9 - I'm only trying to shepherd OP in a certain direction.

I have no idea if my fuse numbers correlate with the V8V until I find out what they are smile

Edit - just noted that 84 and 85 are 30A fuses on my car.

+1.

I shall keep my eye on it too smile

I was looking in the workshop manual that you can download from AM - I think it cost me 8 quid or so.

You spent £8 on the manual? Should have put it towards the 'exhaust valve switch fund' and mailed me instead smile

Incidentally, the image above is taken from the 07 V8V Manual from AM's 'techinfo' so I still don't understand the difference in the two. confused

Should've paid 8 quid and got a decent manual laugh

I've got the same problem - a scorched back after 5 or 10 minutes. I solved it by pulling fuse 60 underneath the carpet in the passenger footwell. This doesn't affect the basic seat adjustments but does prevent the lumbar adjustments so you need to get those right before pulling the fuse. If anyone has an idea where the basic problem is, I'd like to know. I mean to see if I can get into the heater/lumbar seat switch to have a look, but I haven't worked out how yet.

There will be a relay for the heated seat as the switches themselves would not be "man enough" to directly switch the current associated with the seat elements. Relays fail, sometimes locking on, sometimes failing to engage. I'd strongly suspect the former.
The relays are likely to be plug in type mounted either under the seat or maybe under the behind seat shelf. Without knowing the exact type, I'd guess you're looking for thing a bit bigger than an Oxo cube. Rick may be able to advise on that. A new relay is likely to be about £15 and is probably pretty trivial to install.
I'd have a look at ours this evening but it's in Derby at the moment!

Thanks for that, it's very helpful. There's nothing obvious under the parcel shelf, but there is something under the front of each seat. It doesn't look a very neat installation, but it seems to be a red cube plugged into a connector that's just hanging there off 3 short wires. The connector is wrapped around with what looks like spongy insulating tape! The short length of the wires means it's not easy to get at to see what I'm doing, but I'll try to pull out the red cube and see what happens.

I'm not convinced that's it as 3 wires would not seem to be sufficient if its the two stage seat heating. Even if it were the pre-07 model with the on/off heating I can't see that 3 wires would be enough.
I'd suspect that might be the connector into the seat base/back.

I'd suggest keep hunting or throw the towel in and take it to see someone who knows about it!
Good luck!

I looked at the Vantage circuit diagrams. Interestingly, the seats with heater circuits are apparently made by Recaro. The diagram shows 2 heaters. Heater E1 is for the cushion and has 3 wires. Heater E2 is for the backrest and has 2 wires. The two heaters are connected in series through one of those wires which is shared between them. I did not see a relay between the switch and the heater.
