How often do you order a new one and how long do you own it?
Discussion
Just wondering for those of you who are fortunate enough to be able to afford a new one, how often do you order a new one?
How long do you keep your cars for?
And then wondering why so many Aston's seem to be only kept for a short period of time by the owners (when I was looking around there seemed to be a lot of cars that were not very old which had a number of different owners where I would have expected them to be single owner vehicles just because of the age and mileage covered)......

It's an interesting one - not lucky enough to be in the "New Aston" league yet - but I observed the same when shopping for M3's - many had owners for less than a year, maybe it's a tick in a box "Own an Aston Martin" ? I think especially in times of economic instability - if you are concerned about expenses (e.g. if like me you just about qualify for AM ownership ) then the AM would be the first thing to go if I lost my job!

It's my first and I intend to keep it unless I win the lottery of course!
Just got to avoid them giving me a V12V or a V8S as a courtesy car that's all and keep repeating the mantra "I am totally satisfied with my V8, I am totally satisfied with my V8...." oh bu**er it, where's the nearest Aston Martin showroom again?

I've had 24 cars since I started driving 24 years ago and the majority (14) of have been new - indeed all of the last 11 have all been brand new - (check my profile "my garage"). 24 cars in 24 years is pretty straight forward maths re my average ownership term!
Looking at the higher value cars I have more recently owned most of these I have kept for between 18-24months before getting that petrolhead itch again and feeling the need to move on to something new / better.
I kept my last V8V for 13mths before test driving a V12V to see what all the fuss was about.
That said I "plan" to keep the V12V for 3 years and sell it when the warrenty is out and it is due a MOT - /shudder!

Bloody good question. When searching for a V8 in 2007 I found many cases of multiple owner low mileage cars. I think that outside of the pistonhead world some folks just buy cars and then decide "no thanks" and sell on pronto. To be fair, I owned a 911 for 7 months - it left me cold so I chopped it for a V8.
When I was looking for the 911 I found many with tiny mileages and multiple owners. Same when I looked at Ferrari and Lamborghini.

Wow that's a lot of vehicles! Good for you!! Should we have a wager on if you keep the V12 3 years? I'm sensing the odds are strongly in my favour when I say I don't think you will!!!!! :-)Looking at the higher value cars I have more recently owned most of these I have kept for between 18-24months before getting that petrolhead itch again and feeling the need to move on to something new / better.

I'd expect 911's to have more owners...no one really wants one of those to keep do they??When I was looking for the 911 I found many with tiny mileages and multiple owners. Same when I looked at Ferrari and Lamborghini.
Just bought my seventh Aston in five years:
V8 Vantage
Vanquish S
V8 Vantage
DBS
V8 Vantage
V12 Vantage
DBS
I love them and enjoy the whole processs of finding one and buying it (but feel dirty during the whole selling process)
Might explain why a few have a few buyers if others do what I do....
