Is it possible, and if so how, to lock my V12V with power mirrors so they dont fold back?

Yes, its in the settings on the centre console. Details in the manual in section 3.11 but basically it is :

MENU -> Car Settings -> Mirror Settings -> Auto Mirror Fold Enabled = OFF

See that's what I thought - and sure its been there before, but no longer in that menu. Just light behaviour.

This is a firmware problem. Take it to a dealer and they can reflash the eprom. Basically the software module that controls this part of the system is stored in eprom - so it's firmware rather than software. Anyway, it can fail and so the software needs to be reloaded 'flashed'.

The option to set powerfold via the infotainment system came in for the 010MY, so if yours is an 09MY V12V you will have to talk nicely to your local dealer biggrin

Software that is loaded into EPROM is not firmware; it is still software. Firmware cannot be changed through uploading. Firmware in an IC is part of the manufacturing process, that's why it is 'firm'.

All of the engine controls I work with contain embedded real-time software stored in flash memory so that, if necessary, the program can be changed without shipping the controls back to the manufacturer.

To bad he's not accurate. "Firmware" can be updated if the system is designed to let it do so.

Yes it is possible, but for traditional 'firmware' it is seldom done. The parts, like FPGAs, are typically programmed before installation on a PC board and then they become 'hardware'. The point was that software uploaded to flash memory or EPROM is still software, and you shouldn't be calling it firmware.

There is a gray area where firmware is growing and crossing over into the software realm, but I was trying to make the point that EPROM is not the definition of firmware.

I believe you are correct young Grant.

Even on my pauper's 09 DB9 I have the powerfold function, but I am not allowed to alter the settings myself.

The nice Dealer did it for me smile
