I am just wondering if this is a common problem or something I should get checked out??

I have had a few problems with my Aston since buying it.. Nothing really bad with the car, more other issues with dodgy repair etc.

When I picked up my Vantage from the main dealer after having clutch and other things done, I picked it up with the fuel light on. I filled it up and drove home, on the journey home i fealt a little of what fealt like fuel starve and the car hesitating...

It done it again later that day but then stopped, this didnt happen again until yesterday.

I let the tank go to less than 25 miles until empty, filled it up and on the way home from the petrol staion it done the same thing, except this time the car cut out.

It did start again and I drove straight home, when parked on the drive there was a strong smell of petrol.

I left the car for 3 hours, started her up and no problems, I havnt driven it again since but will give it another run today.

I know feul tanks can have a dirty bits in the tank and can cause things like this but it is a bit worrying.

Any ideas?????????

Look at my post on the Bamford Rose sticky thread. There is a known defect in the early V8 Vantage fuelling system.

I'd also have a shufty at this thread:-

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

There was talk of new fuel tanks on there.
I've had the car cough 3 or 4 times in 5 years. Yours sounds like more of a problem. I'd be inclined to hand that to the dealer for investigation.
As also mentioned check out DMS site. There is info on how to clean the throttle flap on there.

edited for spelling... it is early!

Thanks guys,

Just read the thread... Looks like a trip back to the pits...

If this is the problem, as it clearly sounds the same, would this be covered under the warranty??

Mine was an 06 plate. I believe it was 08 and on that fixed the problem.

I recommend that you go in HARD with AML. This is a potentially fatal flaw.
