Will be getting ventureshield half kit fitted on my soon to be collected new (to me) roadster

I see paintshield and armourguard are other options and would be interested to hear people's experiences of the differences, but having had ventureshield before, have confidence in doing it again

But I am particularly interested in feedback regarding the plastic strip on the rear deck where the hood meets the car

The strip is about 1-2 inches wide and about 12 inches long, between the 2 leather humps. I am guessing it is there to stop marks where the hood meets the tonneau cover? It is on my current roadster too. Does anyone have any experience of taking it off, whether the car gets marked ?

My thoughts are to take it off when the car is detailed and then either not replace it at all, or have the entire panel forming the hinged section/toneau cover sealed with ventureshield. Biggest downside - cost, particularly as no pattern seems to exist for this panel. Upside is that strip seems to be a dirt magnet, at the seams/edges

All the roadsters have it fitted in the factory
just wondering now if my S will have it as I have deleted the paint film!)
IME it only protects the obvious bit of paint work between the two humps
On my last car (and most roadsters I looked at) the weather seal of the hood does mark the paint around the humps.
I'd be more inclined to remove it and treat the panel with a high durability resin polish.
Obviously keeping the roof seal & panel where it seals clean will also reduce the problem.

Called in to my local approved 3M installer today.
£800 fitted for the FULL kit comprising;
full front splitter
full front bumper
headlights including washers
1/3 of bonnet
wings up to same line as bonnet
mirrors
outer sills
extended rear arch
strip along boot shut
"wings" at bottom of rear splitter

I'm going to get the S style inner sills and the backs of the seats done as well.
Forgot to ask about the strip between the humps rolleyes

They dont want the car until 3 weeks after it was sprayed to let the paint cure properly. They don't want any polishes etc on the paint as they will only strip it off, so I'll get it corrected but not polished. They will want the car for a day and then leave it in their facilitly overnight to cure.

Cheers for that. I am getting pretty much the exact same kit. I imagine as with you, it's a V12V kit ??? Everything you refer to is included other than possibly the rear splitter wings whcih they neve mentioned. However they think it does include some extra bits like the door handles, a strip on the rear bumper where the boot lid closes and something around the fuel filler.

I'm taking off the strip re: the hood and probably not replacing it - the way I see it, the choice is a very visible strip or possibly a less obvious bit of minor damage to the paint in the same area

I never got a scratch on my seats so I'll probably not bother with that or the sills

My detailer is putting a finish on top of the polish he claims will be great for the installer to fit driectly onto but I don't remember the name

I personally wouldn't do partial panels. The line's as unsightly as stone chips.

I had them on my last/current vantage. Fitted well, you have to get pretty close to notice. Worst case, you take it off - it's only £200 more for the front wings and bonnet over and above the rest of the kit

I had the front 1/3 of my bonnet done on my Titanium Silver V8V and the line was nearly invisible. That said, I covered the entire front end of my V12V with protective film.

Prior to my last car I would concur, I hated the stuff
Having lived with it and detailed over it I don't think you can see it that easily. The only "obvious" location is the partial cover of the bonnet and wing. I only see it because I know exactly where it is!

Can you see it wink

It is the V12 kit, the bonnet difference makes no odds unless you do the whole bonnet.
Seriously - get your detailer to talk to the PPF guys. Part of preparing to apply PPF is cleaning the paint with an alcohol solution. This will strip ALL coatings. You could end up with a finish difference on the paint out side the area covered by the PPF. I'm going to get mine sealed and waxed after the PPF has gone on. I was advised the trick is to mask the PPF edge whilst using the polisher to prevent it forcing sealant or wax under the edge.
I'm with you on the hood strip - just trying to find out if I can delete it on my build. A decent sealant and resin polish should protect the paint just as well (if not better where there is no film!)
