I quite like popping in here now and again and having a gander at what is being discussed, however all the topics seem to involve these new fangled VH platform cars (and the Cygnet).

I know there is a little sticky type thing up at the top of the Aston Martin section detailing who drives what but come on ladies and gents, let's hear from some of you types with an older Aston Martin.

I have a fairly modern (2001) DB7, but I have always been fascinated by the late 80's and 90's Virages, V8s and Vantages and of course the good old I6 and V12 DB7s. It would be nice to see more people talk about these lovely cars. Plus of course pictures are always good...

Also, does anybody live ooop north or are you all down south?

Picture to get the ball rolling:

I have a few little niggles that need sorting out at the moment, firstly is the drivers seat tilt lever. It has stopped engaging properly and can be a bit of a pain in the arse. Does anybody have any advice on how to fix it? I also need to repaint the little metal supports in the nose as they have some surface rust on them, are they fairly cheap to replace or is it easier just to whip them out, rub them down and spray them?

Lovely looking motor Pete. What made you go for the different wheel design? I take it your now selling the beasty, what do you fancy next?

Everybody seems to be in the South, I suppose it's true what they say about it being grim and all...

You 'avin a laff, Bob ??

Car looks greet guns mucka.

If you desire dedicated older car chat, then the AMOC site is always available.

Though entry qualifications stipulate that either you or your wife must be bearded smile

hehe

I love all Aston Martins to be honest. Cheers for the kind words though, I absolutely love it, it's just a shame I haven't had much chance to drive it a lot recently.

I am a member of AMOC but due to work I haven't actually got any of my membership details yet so I haven't ventured onto their website and forums. I don't have a beard though, neither does my wife. I tried to grow a beard once but I just ended up looking like a boyracer.

I don't think I have ever seen another Aston Martin where I live, hence me asking where everybody is from.

Well I needed to get my wheels refurbished and these were available so I bought them on a whim, got these refurbished and then the originals and put them in storage until it was time to sell. I also had the mesh grill fitted for a while but now I think I prefer the original grill. I still really like the car but the call of the DB9 is too strong to ignore

Cheers Kris, I posted up a lighter version of the pic ages ago and it looked crap so I went back and had another go with the picture editing software.

Hi George, I am based up in Lancaster when I'm not at work. Though from October I shall be there a whole lot more as my current job is coming to an end.

A DB9 is a beautiful motor and I suppose the perfect follow on from a DB7. The wheels definitely alter the overall appearance of the car, I think it's a brave man that changes the wheels on his Aston! Fair play though, I don't think it looks too bad.

So glad to see that Jockman is continuing to push the stereotype myth about AMOC members. Lady S would be most displeased as she doesn't have a beard.

A good excuse anyway to post another photo of my old girl (the Aston, not Lady S).

Your car is stunning !!!

Was unaware that the stereotype of AMOC members included bearded women ?? Does the 'C' now stand for circus ??

I am a proud unbearded Member of AMOC, I continue to contribute to the forum, I attend as many of the Meetings as I can (missed Althorpe) and I find the publications interesting. The Chubb Insurance through Locktons is fantastic.

Forum is not as dynamic as PH - don't like the segregation of the cars, but no real probs other than that smile

I love my DB7 VV MAN, but it does seem that we are sort of stuck in the middle between the old stuff and the new. I never really know where i belong. I dont have the necessary facial hair for AMOC or a new enough car to join in with the new boys. I will just have to remain billy no mates. Oh buy the way, I am about as far south as you can get, any further south and you get wet. Couldn't live oop north, to bloody wet and cold.

Do you have more of a side view to see what it looks like with the wheels? Also, is it black or dark blue; it's really hard to tell. Either way, it is gorgeous.

A bit of a problem, love having the DB7 boys and girls here, but you all seem a bit quiet. Try posting more on here and more DB7 owners will follow.

Very glad to see some DB7 related posting.

Picture of my recent purchase above. Got it just in time for annual trip to Le Mans.

Kids (6 and 3) fit in the back which makes it a reasonably practical weekend car.

Number plate will be changed in due course, previous owner's initials. Just need to decide what to replace it with. "1 GTA" is available which would be perfect, but the price is yikes

Not really sure why but the DB7 never really gelled with me looks wise.

Not as badly as the Virage (original one) or DB6 (proof if ever it were needed that to continue fiddling with a good design is asking for bother. Take note AM ref the V8V!). But it never really did it for me.

That is such a gorgeous looking car, I love the colour combo, I think it suits it perfectly.
