Just bought a DBS which is absolutely sublime... however, the previous owner must have been Del Boy as the 'Power Ranger's leg' as Clarkson calls it is covered in scratches. Is it possible to replace just the aluminium top part by whipping it off and putting another on, or is it a bigger deal (i.e. must be replaced from below with other gubbings)?

I'm sure the dealer said 700 odd quid.... can that be possibly right for a bit of shiny metal?

Any experience of this fellow PH'ers?
Thanks

Been waiting for AM works to bring out at carbon stick to replace the aluminium, it looks nice but not pleasant in the cold....or hot for that matter! Anyone seen any developments here, i know there have been numerous requests...

The answer to the question is, yes, you can simply replace the gearstick top part although this is done from underneath. They are expensive though. They can be found on eBay for around the £400 mark. I believe Yeti on here has or had one for sale.

I *will* have mine for sale when my Sarah Maynard one is fitted. However, it has a couple of light scratches too but they'll polish out, as will yours. You might need someone to do it for you with a wheel as I doubt Brasso and an old pair of cotton pants will get them out...

Not a hard job to replace but I have heard that they're £850 from AM smile

Germany based tuner EDO competition offers a carbon knob for DBS/V12V:

Last time I asked them they said that they would need the original knob sent in to be modified.
