Rick @ Derby Motor Services,

Can I have the benefit of your expertise please ?

Jumped into my V8 Vantage this p.m. after not having driven it for a week or two.

On start up the following two messages started to flash on the dashboard.

DSC SERVICE REQUIRED.

and

TRACTION CONTROL TEMPORARY OFF.

The car drives perfectly and the brakes feel normal.

Is this something I can reset myself or is it a visit to the AM dealership at Exeter ( 43 miles away ).

Rgds Tony

It stands for "do a search" (they evidently couldn't spell "search"). You'll get the answer to what you need that way biggrin

Hi Tony common fault most likely the brake pressure transducer fitted in the base of the master cylinder, occasionally it is the brake pedal switch that has thrown an error and can be reset, If the car is under warranty this is normally covered if not and it is the sensor this is £64.23 + vat plus labour which should be no more than half an hour,

Definitely covered under the original warranty - had mine done.

A lot of people run with the traction control off so it's not a massive issue but can lead to other warning lights appearing (I think mine went to Emergency Brake Assist Failure) smile

I've experienced the same, however I pulled over , turned the engine off, more in hope then realistic expectation and then restarted the engine with no error message.

Result and to date i've had no repetition.

My 'Emergency Brake Assist Failure' red warning disappeared after a restart but the DSC warning remained. smile

Now fixed.

Just like to say thanks for the info in the previous post.

Having the same problem and having read the post I telephoned a main agent in Reading and asked for the sensor to be changed.
After dropping off the car I waited 5 hours without hearing anything before ringing them only to be told that they had run diagnostics and that a sensor on the car was faulty!
I said thank you but reminded them that this was what I had told them and why I had brought the car in. Their reply was that diagnostics would cost me £156.00 and that they had the sensor in stock and would I like them to fit it! I was a little taken aback as I had been 'shopping' for 5 hours waiting for them to call. I was told that they had tried to call me but did not get through and NO, a text message had not been sent. Of course they could not be expected to change the sensor without my approval. I ended up buying the sensor for £69.00 and taking it way with me and only having to pay them £80.00 for the diagnostics. Oh, but they did wash the car!

I’ve had the same here.

Can someone advise or point to a walkthrough of what to check so I can replace or whatever myself rather than go to a garage and get shafted?
