I think my midlife crisis may be starting a little early!
I'm thinking of a 2006/07 vantage 4.3, up to mid £40's, but the vanquish seems crazy value at around the same money.

I would be looking to use either as a daily(ish) drive.

Would the Vanquish be financial suicide, or are they easy to live with?

I'm in the Channel islands, so while i can get a drive in the Vantage, test driving a Vanquish may be a little difficult.

Any help/pointers very welcome indeed.

Vanquish prices seem to be on the up, so could be a good time to buy. However, if you're using it as a daily car, the V8V is a much nicer place to sit (imo).

for 40k your going to end up with a tatty Vanquish......servicing and maintenance would cost you 5k per year and could cost you 10k.....they are toys for owners with deep pockets.....best go for the Vantage which would be a great everyday drive and cost perhaps 2-3k per year

Having had a chat with Rick at DMS, some of the costs of parts on the Vanquish are super scary.

V8 Vantage 4.3 can be run on £500 - £1.5K maintenance a year (that's what I'm finding anyway), but put some money away in case something bigger goes like the clutch. Mine is a daily drive.

I agree. £500 to £1500 PA sounds about right. Depending how many replacement wheel centres you have to buy of course!

Vanq - handbuilt supercar, built by men in Newport Pagnell. First implementation in a road car of a manual flappy paddle box.

Vantage 4.3 06 - built in Gaydon to FoMoCo standards.

If the 4.3 has been driven a reasonable number of miles it will work ok. But a Vanq can go wrong in deeply unpleasant ways.

For a weekend only fun car if you have deep pockets go Vanquish S (not the original). But for a daily driver it has to be 4.3 V8 all the way.

It was this one that got me thinking of a vanquish:

10K PA running costs are a concern though!

What does "not the original" mean? why mention a Vanquish S when his budget is 45k.......to the OP I also would love to own a Vanquish but have been advised that 7 or 8k bills for repairs are not uncommon, I’m too mean to suffer those kind of bills and hassle....the V8V has a great reputation for reliability and for 45k you could buy a 07 plate with a warranty.....if you want the big V12 engine then consider a DB9.....both the 9 and V8V can be used from day to day......good hunting smile

THE CAR HAS JUST BEEN FITTED WITH A NEW GEARBOX TO VANQUISH 'S' SPECIFICATION & A NEW CLUTCH AT JCT600 ASTON MARTIN, RECENT VANQUISH 'S' BRAKE DISK & PAD UPGRADE & NEW TYRES.

That little lot must have come to half the asking price of the car at the very least. eek

It does looks gorgeous though thumbup

all true but it’s an 02 car ( i.e. its nearly 10 years old) older cars had rust chassis rust problems and wiring problems and it’s not a Vanquish S.....but I would agree....seems like a good buy but high risk

What a foul interior in that car. It looks like 2 people have bled to death in there.

What the hell were they thinking ??

No point trying to hide behind a French slang word either, albeit for a formidable wine region smile

I like it, not too different to the imola red leather in my M3 cab.

Vantage does seem the way to go though. As has been mentioned, mid 40's will get a decent main dealer car with warranty.
But the vanquish, Mmmmmmmmmm.........

I had full claret hide in my DB7, it is extremely hard to photgraph accurately. It's actually a very dark red, would traditionally be called Oxblood and is rather classicially British. I would imagine it looks superb in the flesh as it were...

That colour also has the advantage of masking any spills during enthusiastic cornering. That Lafite is a bcensoredh to get out of the cream hide and those cup holders really are useless with stemmed glasses.
