Vanquish S Ultimate Edition
Discussion
I was looking at these in the classifieds the other day, and I still can't work out why there is a £40k+ premium on the Ultimate Edition over a 'regular' S.

When comparing those 2, I can't see any differences except for the red on the seats of the regular one (which I think looks nicer), and some stickers on the side strakes.
So what warrants the £45k premium? Just the exclusivity of a limited edition, or anything else?

If this is accurate it doesn't look like there was much difference.

Hmmm...see what you're saying Georgeous.
Obviously there is a 3.5K mileage difference which needs to be factored in.
Furthermore, with cars at that level depreciating at, say £2-£2.5K per MONTH, then the 1 year difference could account for anything upto £30K.
Unless of course I'm reading it incorrectly

Looking at that website, it looks like it is a bit of a gimmick imo.
No idea about the carbon fibre brace.
Jockman, there is also another one for sale that is 2007, with slightly higher mileage and is still £150k

Yup, I think we are looking at an exercise in bullst.
I would rather have a nearly new V12V or DBS to be honest.
Furthermore, I don't think my calculations stack up as the Vanquish S is no longer in production, thereby encapsulating a more premium price.
Begs the question then...why the difference in price over a couple of thousand miles ??

Could get a nearly new DBS Volante at that price I would rather have a nearly new V12V or DBS to be honest.

Or a V8 Vantage V600 Le Mans.
What I find odd is that first Ultimate Edition I posted says it has been sold in the title. Seems there is a market for them.
I'm sure there is a market for them - they are very gorgeous 'muscular' cars as opposed to the more feline looks of the newer models.
They will also continue to depreciate at a slower rate as they are no longer produced, affording them a similar sort of investment profile as the V12V

Fortunate enough to meet up with a chap from AMOC and go for a drive around Sussex, me in my Volante and him in his Vanquish S in Ferrari Grigio Titanium.
God, what a car! No faster in reality than my chavved up Volante and didn't attract any more attention when parked up (everyone went crazy for them both when parked up), but as ever, God is in the details.
Seeing them next to each other, it's easy to see the Vanquish is truly handmade and the DB9 was nailed/glued together in an altogether different way. The shutlines on both are consistent but it's the shape and curve of the panels on the Vanquish, they are so much more complicated, to the point of being pointlessly complicated but when you study it, it really is in a different league of design, quality and manufacturing. The interior is perhaps not as nice as a Gaydon car, but it's of a different generation and it's close. But the description of the Vanquish as aggressive and the DB9 as more beautiful is an accurate one. In isolation, genral consunsus is that they look alike, parked next to each other they are very different cars, surprisingly so.
I remember posting a thread on AMOC asking what car to buy with £50k about 3 years ago, a Vanquish or a DB9 coupe, becaue they were the same price and I wasnt clear on the real differences. I wonder now if I should have bought the Vanquish, 'tis the last true Aston... took me a while to realise that, not sure if that realisation detracts from my ownership of a Gaydon car. I doubt it
Anyway, I digress.

They are a fantastic looking thing, the best looking Aston in a long long time. It has such road presence.
My uncle has a regular Vanquish in Meteorite silver. Exterior is beautiful, however the problem I have with it lies with the interior. It's just the little things that bug me, like having to turn the key, then press the starter button. It is also very dated, and the gearbox isn't as good.
As a car only used for special occasions I could live with it, but I don't think I could run one as a daily.
Still, with all that taken into consideration, I would still happily take the Zagato Vanquish Volante.
Vanquish prices have been hardening in the past 3 months......the car has been tipped in the Sunday Times two years on the run as most likely to increase in value. You could pick up a Vanquish S for 60k twelve months ago.....now they are north of 70K and very low millage examples 90K+

Don't think so.
Have they gone up in value a lot recently? I remember looking a year or so ago and they were around £130k.Michael, they are already above that. Some are almost £110k for low mileage examples.
It would seem it is just down to exclusivity, a unique colour (which I guess Aston would have painted a regular one in for a small percentage of the £45k premium, and also looks very similar to just plain Onyx black), and some different leather.
I'd pay £10k more for one maximum, especially since it was a no cost option to upgrade to the Ultimate Edition. However, you can't take the roof off, so I'm not interested in either
