V8 renewal has come through with Afrian Flux at £1,400 with £3,000 excess and just wondered how competitive this is. Only one years no claims as couldnt get it on a 2 car policy, limited 5,000 miles per annum, and age 47 with no convictions, 06 plate, just seems a lot....
thoughts and recommendations gratefully received smile

It doesn;t sound very competitive.

I'm using CCI and am paying £550 (£350 excess) for the year including cover for 4 track days on my 06 Vantage.

No points, no accidents, 5000 miles, garaged. In my 30s (when I took out the policy) wink

However area could be a big factor. Do you live in a city centre?

Try Locktons (via AMOC). Their policy saved me, and many others here, a small fortune this year.

+ 1, though remember you will not have any third party cover for other cars if, of course, you are not a named driver on these cars.

I have a policy with Aviva.....have full no claims on the Aston and they gave me an intoduction discount of 5 years on my second car.....their underwritters attitude being that I can only drive one car at a time.....£750 for the Aston £320 for the Honda Civic

That sounds... insane!!

Paying £705 for a modified DB9 with Classicline which I though was an outrage, sure I could have got it cheaper but was at Goodweood FoS when I realised it was going to run out so had to take it, no time to shop around. 36yrs old, 6 points and previously banned (all speeding!) so hardly an angel when driving. Think it was about £150 more than my DB7, guess it's a more valuable car.

Locktons definitely worth a call, though they take their time getting back to you.

Blimey, mine does sound high eek and probably a silly question but is the alarm on the Aston a Thatcham catagory 1 alarm?
And looks like i'd better get phoning! thank you smile

Suspect only having 1 year's no claim bonus is the killer. Apparently, I've been told it's not Thatcham approved, which quite surprised me.

Something is really wrong here, what happens if you run through an Admiral quote online and bump up the excess a little? It must be lower than that because the 12,000 miles I have my 59 plate car on is less than your quote and I'm only 23 - no claims can't make all that much difference.

Chubb insurance are my personal recommendation. Great to deal with and you get two points of contact and a totally consistant, clear and joined up approach to your repair.

You get what you pay for. Choice of repairer, do you really want the lowest bidder repairing your Aston? Replacement car which is like for like, claims protection.......

I am with classicline car insurance; I am 37 this is on a second policy not using any of my no claims. 8000 ltd miles, car is garaged and modified!!!! 4.3l changed to 4.7l full quicksilver exhaust some new carbon body bits!!! And a few other bits as well. Live in so16 £720.00
I have always found them to be not just cheaper but brilliant to talk to and if you are unfortunate enough to have an accident they sort it out really quickly and very professionally.

That's interesting, I have never been able to get more than 5k miles agreed for any of my cars with them. Might be worth a call as I've done 4k since January (2 Euro trips in there though!).

I have just rolled over 5000 miles which includes my trip to Scotland "1374 miles " I have still got 3 months left this year so I gave them a call and they agreed to extend my pollicy to 8000 mils an additional £65.00 !!! not to shabby !!!

I'm 40 and pay about £1,600 from memory with Locktons, but that;s with a 10,000 mile limit (you can also choose 5000 or 7500 miles which are significantly less - from memory it;s no more than £1k with 5k mile limit)
It has a much lower excess and includes 5 named drivers, european travel, breakdown cover & UK track cover

It;s with an agreed value of 85k and along with the mileage, that;s the other big contributor to premiums - again much lower premium on say a 50k agreed value

As others have said, the Locktons policy is excellent

I should have also said the Locktons policy is as a second car, with no transferrable no claims. If you have a first car, then that will give you third party cover on other cars anyway, if not, that's the only potential downside of the Locktons policy that I can see

My renewal from Chubb was similar under similar circumstances
Admiral Multi Car was half the price wink
