"You can now order the new Zagato, which will be produced as a limited run of of only 150cars. But be ready to do the lottery this weekend as the final list price has come in at £330,000 plus taxes (£396,000 in the UK), some £260,000 more than the V12 Vantage which it is based on!"

I don't think it is too bad really. I was anticipating around the £350k-£400k mark. If any Ferrari or Lamborghini did a limited run with new body, despite being basicly the same underneath, they would charge similar amounts, if not more (think Lamborghini Reventon).

I would guess that you could buy one, and never lose any money on it, so I don't see why people are saying it's too expensive.

If I had £400k sitting around doing nothing, I'd buy one. I'd prefer the Zag to a one-77 (not that I'm in the queue for one of those either!).

Im not to sure either.

It is a bit like the new Lancia Stratos (with a new body and 430 Stradale underpinnings). There is a very limited market so you might not loose money per se but there is just no liquidity - at any price. So i don't know what is better.

Why? Look at the prices of the DB7 Zagato, they are still priced similar to when they were new almost 11 years later.

I'm sure some mug will buy it.

The Reventon was a rip off too. Especially when you consider things like the SV, 599GTO etc.

Pity it's not designed or built by Zagato.

You haven't?

You'll be telling us next you have his n hers Cygnets.

biggrin

It has a bit of a whiff of crapness about it though, you have to admit. The DB7Z wasn't that great, but this is all a bit...gawky. Deffo blow up doll has love tryst with Nissan GT-R and Ferrari FF. And allegedly little to do with Zagato if the above is to be believed.

Sorry Aston, I'm drifting off. The AMV8's a dream. Blurry Vanquish. The old V8. The DB5, DB4....drifting off slowly smile

Correct, I haven't, but I would if the cash was lying around gathering dust. I don't find it 'gawky', I think it looks brutal, especially in motion. I'm still a biiiig fan of the original V8V shape, but I prefer the Zag to piddling around with sills, little diffusers etc. as Aston has done. At least it's different to the rest of the range (although you could say that of the Cygnet, I suppose!).

Hope I didn't wake you smile

fortunately for me I prefer the way the V12V looks.

no doubt I would be very excitable if I saw one in real life, but I won't be rushing down to the AM dealer.

interesting though that they didn't up the power any. I have been reliably informed that it would be a very straightforward thing to do.

Does the side view remind anyone else of a Nissan GTR?

I think it's the roof & windows shape

there's a lot of GTR in it.

much as I admire it and would love to drive one I'm not very taken with the GTR's looks either.

Mmm. So that would be 28% less in real terms?? (inflation 2000-2011)

2 years wages, how do you cope! hehe

Anyway, back on topic, name me another limited edition, re-bodied, prestige car for less than £400k! Exactly! smile

There were a few likenesses of it made here:

Surely the last thing the V12V was really in need of was re-bodying.

Are there any pictures of the inside?

400k buys a lot of cars old and new that would kick this into next Sunday.
