Looks like they are testing the Virage on Top Gear tomorrow night.

Conclusion - it's too hard core - uncomfortable suspension .
To be fair that was my conclusion when I first drove a DB9 but having just done 2k miles down to Le Mans and back in a DB9 Volante - I would say the firmness of suspension and seats actually make for comfortable long distance cruising.

I agree, having recently driven my DB9 to Bavaria and back. The smooth Continental roads were a real pleasue compared to the course clapped out surfaces in third world Britin.grumpy

I wish they had included the V12 Vantage in the drag race at the beginning!

I must confess that James Mays review of the Aston range got right on my T**ts furious!!

I usually enjoy the show including the superficial reviews which may be light on facts but are good theatre, but captain slows review of the Virage (+ DBS/V12V,DB9) concentrated on the ride quality to the exclusion of all else... just to make some sort of soap box point.... totally Cr*p IMO rage!

I agree. It seemed a very odd review. I was looking forward to something like Clarkson did on the V12 Vantage.

Agree - it was utterly pointless. Course the Virage is going to have a fecking hard ride. What other car in it's class has an S-Type Jag feel to the suspension like May was banging on about.

I'm still a bit lost as to where the Virage goes and if I was spending that sort of dough(one day...) then hello DBS

That was by far the worst review I have ever seen. He didn't tell me anything about it, I may as well have just looked at some pictures of it.

If I want a review of a car, Top Gear would be the last place I go to. The magazine is ok, but the TV show is utter ste, I don't think they know how to review a car any more.

+1 on the first bit
Disagree on the last though.
IMHO the Virage is more stylish/subtle than the DBS I see it as a DB9 replacement. (IIRC current AMOC mag mentions DB10 as a name they considered)
The suspension tweaks ought to make it on a par with the DBS for handling
OK it's light on ponies/talks but in the real world of Aston ownership is that important wink

for those (and me) who missed it on Sunday the repeat is....
Wednesday 06 July
8:00pm - 9:00pm
BBC2

2/6, series 17

To Italy for a three-way contest between the presenters and their favourite hot hatchbacks. Jeremy Clarkson champions a Citroën DS3 Racing, Richard Hammond a Fiat 500C Abarth and James May a Renaultsport Clio Cup. As they power their way to Monte Carlo via romantic Italian roads, they'll be able to taunt one another over walkie-talkies before facing a left-field challenge of the cars' performance. Back at base, comedian Ross Noble drops by and on the test track Clarkson is torturing metaphors to critique the hi-tech British supercar with a name like a dishwasher: the McLaren MP4-12C.

That was rubbish too. Where were the grandaddies of hot hatches? Focus RS/ST and the Golf R32/GTI. Fiat 500 Abarth? Really? As they kept harping on, it's not even a hatchback.

Next week I reckon it wii be the turn of of the Vantage V8S. I am on my guard cos it will be compared to the 540 bhp Jag. I would add that I did not even consider it. I am supporting a British marque not an Indian one. Also the Jag in my opinion is pig ugly!
Oops, have I said the wrong thing? I used to own a V12 E. Type ,that was something else.

Top Gear is an entertainment program with some cars in it - more Daily Mail than Evo. Hardly likely to stop someone with £150k purchasing what is a lovely looking car.

I'm amazed that some celubutar's opinion actually annoys anyone.

It's the equivalent of getting cross because night is falling.;)
