Quicksilver exhaust with Bamford Rose
Discussion
I know that there have been a few threads on exhaust systems recently. Those of you who read my 6 month update will know I had a Quicksilver Supersports exhaust fitted to my V8V coupe by Bamford Rose last month. Mike there was really helpful in advising on my options - Sports, Supersports or Supersports Plus. Bamford Rose even offer to replace the system you choose for one of the others FOC if the first system selection does not meet your criteria for sound! The Sports system was not an option for me as it's just a small step up from a de-corked OEM (although significantly less weight). So it was Supersports or Supersports Plus. The Supersports is quoted as a louder proper muscle car sound with wonderful howl at higher rpm whilst the Plus system is quoted as giving a race-car howl at higher rpm. There's only about a 1-2 dB increase in noise through the higher rpm but that's probably quite a bit to the ear.
My initial thought was to go for the Plus system and change down if too loud. After reading a few postings on here and after some discussion with Adrian at Bamford Rose I was worried that the Plus box would be too much especially at motorway cruise so went for the Supersports. It's a huge improvement to my ears on the OEM but after a month I'm wishing I had stuck to plan A and tried the Plus first. A quick chat to Mike and I'm back down on Friday to change to the Plus at no charge. My only worry is that it will be too loud and I'll want to change back. I suspect I won't but hopefully Mike will indulge me if necessary.
The service from Mike and the crew at Bamford Rose has been first class and if you're looking to replace your OEM exhaust I can certainly recommend them and the Quicksilver system. If like me you don't quite know what's going to work for you the option to change FOC is a big plus point. For anyone wondering I have no financial interest in either Bamford Rose or Quicksilver but a big interest in obtaining the right noise (for me) for such a fantastic car

I have the SS but also 200cpi race cats... Throws another variable into the mix noise-wise! I would imagine that combination gives a similar noise to SS Plus, I doubt I'd want to go any louder but nice to know I can if I want to Edited by yeti on Thursday 23 June 08:46

Have considered this option but carries extra cost. JohnG1 said:
Go further upstream and replace the exhaust manifolds and you'll get a different sound rather than just louder and will also you get more power. That's my plan for when the warranty expires :-)
You and I have the same idea John. Only I don't care about my warranty quite as much! Soon as they're available they're going on and same with Vanquish cylinder heads... yeti said:

Oooooh. I'm really rather jealous. I'm in North London - if you are anywhere round and about I'd love to hear and see your car after that heart transplant.Hi Guys,
I am just about to purchase a Quicksilver sports plus. I have decided that the more noise the better, its not like its going to sound like a whoop bar golf GTI or a saxo with a Peco back box.... Just a nice deep loud V8 roar!!!
Does any one know for certain the BHP gains from just replacing the rear section?????? As was thnking of also adding an induction kit and a remap.
I have always taken my cars to paramount performance in slough for remapping and been quite happy. Always pretty good gains for little outlay.
Or would the induction kit and remap invalidate any part of my warranty???

Read the Bamford Rose sticky at the top of the Aston forum section. All the info you would ever want to know on bhp increases, remaps etcI am just about to purchase a Quicksilver sports plus. I had my Quicksilver super sports plus system fitted yesterday.....
WOW very nice sound indeed well happy with it. It makes all the right noises and sounds just how the car should sound in the first place.
The 20 mile trip home from Cobham turned out to be a 65 mile journey... Just couldnt stop driving to listen to that noise, dont think I need to worry about what music I have in the CD player any more with that noise to listen to...
I bought the system through Trinity Engineering who also fitted the exhaust, I have to say that the service there was great, its just a shame I cant take my car there for servicing due to the warranty, but any additional bits I need doing, upgrades& mods from now on will taking my money there.
