best sounding aftermarket exhaust for V8 Vantage????????
Discussion
Hi,
I did look through the forums to see if this topic had already been done but couldnt fid anything...
Could anybody please help me with a dilema... I want to buy a sports exhaust for my Vantage and cant make my mind up which one to go for???
I know Quicksilver is a well recognised one but are there any others that sound better. I have thought about a Tubi Sports back box.
Can any one advise having had any of these fitted...
Any suggestions welcome... Many thanks

The sound is a very personal one. You really need to hear each one yourself.
Youtube will give you an idea but nothing like hearing it in person.
Quicksilver, Larini, Miltek, Tubi, I am sure I've missed one?
Thanks for that, I have been on Youtube and your right!! doesnt really give a true sound. I have had Miltek exhausts on previous cars and have been happy with the sound, but none of those were V8'sYoutube will give you an idea but nothing like hearing it in person.

There is a clip on Youtube of the Larini exhaust and that sounds aggressive enough..
I think you will find "better" is subjective. I guess it depends what you want; louder, deeper, more raspy, more pops n crackles etc ?
or just louder and sounding similar? do you need to be able to get on trackdays ? do you mind it sounding like an 18yr old in a hot hatch coming down the road ? do you have neighbors that will get upset with the noise? do you need the ability to make phonecalls in the car still ?
have a listen to loads of clips on Youtube you can listen too - that might help you make your mind up, but really nothing beats listening to it in real life, so maybe go out and meet some fellow owners I guess is the best way to decide
..one persons "sounds awesome" is anothers "too loud and drones when cruising" ......

Good points... not to annoy the neighbours....or just louder and sounding similar? do you need to be able to get on trackdays ? do you mind it sounding like an 18yr old in a hot hatch coming down the road ? do you have neighbors that will get upset with the noise? do you need the ability to make phonecalls in the car still ?

Just a little more throaty than the origional exhaust... I have removed fuse22 which has made a little difference and the car already sounds amazing, but just not quite rumbly enough.

Where about in the country are you? Someone who has changed their exhaust maybe close by and you could hear it?
I went the larini way but that's because I got a good deal on it.
Quicksilver are very good and you get three levels of sound to choose from.
Im in Berkshire... I didnt know that there was a choice of 3 quicksilver exhausts.. Will have to look into that.I went the larini way but that's because I got a good deal on it.

But if anyone close has one I could have a listen to would be great..
It seems the Italians (Tubi, Larini) make their exhaust noise higher pitched, more of a Ferrari style scream - at least with V12s anyway.
QS have Sports, SuperSports and SuperSports Plus all getting from a bit louder than standard to the full race sound. Sounds like Sports maybe enough for you? They give more of a rumble than a scream, more muscle car than fragile Italian.
Coming to Hever? You should get to listen to most of them there!

I got the Larini back box and to be honest it didn't change the note. It did make it another step louder than fuse 22 removed butfor me personally not enough low rpm rumble on it's own.

I Think I will go for the same, been on Quicksilvers web site and had a listen to the video clips on there...
I have just fitted a Quicksilver Supersports after running for a while with Fuse 22 out. I have to say anything louder than this would be tricky to get around town discreetly enough, I have noticed the local police watching very closely more than once in just a month. It has a little bit more bass than Fuse 22 up to 3500rpm, but then all hell seems to break loose and it becomes a real head-turner - the game is trying to lip read the comments because you sure as hell cant hear them....and keeping it below 3,500rpm if the five-oh are around.Motorways are OK at up to 150kph, any more and it gets into the really loud zone. You could always turn the music up, but it gets tiring.
BTW, I fitted it myself with just basic tools and only a little bit of swearing. I can pass on some tips if needed.

That's precisely what I have learned to do, shifting very early and riding the torque when in town or when the 'nearside speed limiter' is fited to the car (in the passenger seat). I haven't had any problems and giving it the beans is just a tiny throttle input away SuperSports is loud, wouldn't recommend it for a daily driver. SS Plus must be weekends only!
