Hello again folks,

So I've done my first test drive today, having only driven the V8V on track previously my overwhelming impression vs. my M3 on 19's was the significantly firmer ride in the Vantage on a mix of roads, the suspension seemed to have less travel and made the reaction to imperfect road surfaces less controlled than I expected.

I am not sure if this is because I was expecting it to be more of a GT or if I've inadvertently driven one with sport suspension (if this an option?).

Happy to hear "mtfu" but would like some of your experienced views.

Many thanks in advance.

When i first tested the Vantage on std suspension i was also a bit shocked at the ride. Ive also had BMWs in past. I think i was expecting a GT which its not.

I now rate the suspension a lot, handles exceptionally at pace but also comfortable when cruising. Just keep an eye out for potholes speedbumps etc.

E46 M3 to V8V - nice jump

Thanks Jon, I've waited for some time to move up to from the M3, the V8V is the only possible replacement in my mind, however was surprised at the lack of give in the suspension. Maybe I wasn't driving fast enough, or maybe I need to test drive a GTR then stop complaining ;-)

I moved from a 330 MSport Coupe to the V8V.
I find the standard suspension on the vantage to be excellent. Superb handling and ride. I have never found it to be too harsh or stiff and it copes brilliantly with our rubbish, pot-holed roads!

I don't think you will be disappointed in any way. The Vantage will make you smile with pride and the fun of driving it EVERY time you climb in!! It's just a brilliant car!! Do it! smile

it might be worth back to back testing on with sports suspension and without

some peoples expectations are different, as are the roads they like to drive on

Hi Kris I had both a coupe and convertable e46 m3 which i have to say I really liked, I went from a Audi tt rs to my vantage and was a little dissapointed at first. both Bmw an Audi set up cars so well I was expecting a similar ride but as we know "ze Germans" have fabulous roads which can take a firmer ride, "especially Audi !!" so when I first drove my Vantage I also thought that it was a little soft but...... once you have settled into and driven for more than a pop down the road it really is a great drive and ride comfort. I have done quite a few trips of 200 miles plus and feel just the same as when you started where as my old Audi did leave you aware that you had covered some miles, I recently had the opotunity to drive the circuits at Milbrook and was in ore of the vantage when pushed. it really likes to be streched if everyway and believe it would run circles around my previous cars.

Thanks folks - my initial impression was that the ride would be to uncompromising for Mrs Delta to enjoy, I think I need to drive a couple more.

I know exactly what I want, I just need to convince someone to sell me a grey 07 car for 40k and for it to pass the passenger comfort test...
