Not having much luck latelyfrown

Went to fill up and the cap wouldn't open. Tried for a few minutes then came home to try again.
Eventually got it open using folded paper in the gap to force it open.
I tried to realign it but with no success. Then it got worse the frame brokefurious

Is it something dealers have in stock? I presume it will need painting too?

I do not even bother with the button anymore......just go right for the manual release in the boot every time!

Had this happen last month, i have found that the latch get's clogged with grime and becomes stiff, also if a small amount of petrol spills in to the latch it ill dry up the lube that is in the latch.

The way to get the cap open if the manual pull wont work is to remove the boot carpet and then remove the cable from the motor/manual pull leaver and use some grips on the end of the cable with a little more force to open the cap, once open remove the latch/cable and give a good dosing of silicone spray and work it in to the latch/cable, Once done keep lubed ever couple of months and you should be fine.

It sounds like a long way round but it takes about 20 mins to do and also avoids sticking things in between the fuel flap and body possibly damaging the paint.

Really looking for some ideas here.

There is no stock in the UK for the hinge part I'm aftercry

Aston don't have any either. They are on a 10 week back order and the part is made in the US.

I've checked ebay both here and the states. I've also tried breakers yards but have yet to come across one
that has a coupe.

Does anyone had an idea where one might be hiding?

There was one being broken on ebay, do a search and mail the seller for the specific part you need.

Unfortunately the one they are breaking is a Roadster.

I think there might be two being done

Item number 320593640043 is some wheels. The car is also being broken. It's apparently a 2007 so it would only just have been able to be a roadster
Item number 160446650991 is for a load of bits

The two are geographically different so unless they're both roadsters.....

The first is oldcarparts and he only has the Roadster. The second haven't returned my emails so not sure on that one yet.

I have spoken to another dealer and he told me that they are changing some of the part numbers over the break and maybe that's why
the dealers computers are not showing any.

One other option, which you may not like! Glue the broken bits back together and get a plastic "casting" made off it. Tony Hall may be able to advise more on that as he seems to have connections in the metal bashing trade.... either that or he can fashion one for you out of stainless or dural. Maybe a petrol filler cap too!

If it's just the frame, can you not glue it? Araldite or liquid metal or something?

In theory it shouldn't have to take too much stress in normal circumstances...so I would have thought glue would work.

Early models are made of cast (ali?) very cheap and very brittle. New ones are pressed steal.

Spoke to Astonbitz and they only have one for the roadster. Seems roadster drivers crash more;)

Ah OK well if it's cast Ali that would explain why it snapped, evo stick do a good liquid metal, just make sure you prep the surfaces well.
