Well it's probably nearer 7 months since my aquisition. I hang my head in shame for not having posted pics earlier but here they are! Sorry about image quality but I'm still trying to figure out how to reduce file sizes to upload.

Thought I'd provide an update on my ownership experience to date. After a pretty slow start with the weather at the end of last year I've now managed to amass the princely sum of just over 2500 miles. Would have loved to have done more but commitments to ferry kids to childminders etc and only one passenger seat have posed problems. Maybe should have looked at a DB9 but it just didn't feel the same as the Vantage. The grin on my face never goes every time I get in it and gets even bigger on the occasions I also manage to drive it biggrin The offspring also love it and cries of "can we take the Aston Dad?" are met with groans when they realise there's more than 2 of us to transport. Their smiles as big as mine if it's just 2 of us though. Even my 2 year old is a convert.

The 3 cats also love it. That lovely 4.7 lump provides a nice warm bed especially over the bonnet vents. I swear I'll kill the little bcensoredrs if I could catch them. My paranoia about claw marks on the paint and fear of stones chips has resulted in me fitting paint protection film to the full front end (full bonnet, wings and bumpers) as well as sills and a bigger piece over the rear wheel arch to replace the OE. Job done by Paintshield in Peterborough as I had a trip down to Birmingham for a meeting. I have to say if you look really closely you can see the film but I think that for the peace of mind it offers it's probably worth it.

One disappointment I had was that I just didn't feel that lovely exhaust note was loud enough for me following on from my TVRs. It now has a Quicksilver Supersports fitted courtesy of Bamford Rose. I bottled fitting the Supersports Plus fearing it may be a step too far. The noise now is a massive improvement but I'm not sure that I shouldn't have gone with my original plan for the Plus system. I'm going to give it a week or two but may change it for the Supersports plus which remains an option.

Other issues so far are few. One of the chrome side strakes has started to bubble a bit but is due to be replaced by main dealer under warranty. No quibbles.

It's a bit of a pain that the front parking sensor doesn't come on automatically at low speeds but that you need to press the button to activate it. It does come on if you select reverse first and then first. Bit of a design flaw there I think. Couple of occasions where I've come close to a front end nudge waiting for the bleeps. Just about got to grips with the reverse action window controls.

Average fuel consumption has been 20.5 mpg, which is I suppose not bad. On a couple of occasions I've had a transient loss of power when putting my right foot down. Probably less than a second but a bit disconcerting especially if looking to overtake. Seem to be if I just look to accelerate without changing down (manual box). Think I've seen a couple of threads on here about it and will monitor the situation.

Have I enjoyed the experience to date?……..now that's a stupid question…..off to sit in it again….roll on my next outing! driving Thanks to all of you who've provided some very helpful advice.

My 4 year old showing his appreciation!!

Lovely car! Happy to hear you're enjoying it! Doesn't your son realize he's not supposed to drive in his socks? It's unsafe. wink

Very nice, know what you mean re the exhaust after moving from a TVR the Aston is a more "grown" up car.

I have a similar problem with the hesitation when accelerating not always but its happened on two cars that I have had and the dealership has never found anything.

The weekend weather looks good so get out there and enjoy.

Fantastic report! You need more excuses to get out there. Your car looks very similar to ours. I'm guessing Meteorite Silver.
We have just completed 4000 miles in 5 months. The wife and I have loved every mile. Our average fuel consumption hovers around 25-26 mpg though we live in the country so very little town work and then fairly long runs. The slight miss that you have experienced could be down to fuel. We had the same, it happens in top gear usually accelerating from say 70 to 90mph. Try using BP ultima fuel or similar it has worked with ours.
Have you joined the AMOC yet? We had a very pleasant evening last night, we are in area 5. Over 30 AM's turned up, all types all models and a good crowd.
Regards
Rob and Amanda

Lovely Car! The parking sensor issue is by design. Otherwise, It would be going off everytime you were stuck in a bit of traffic, or negotiating a multi storey etc.

The other day, i had parked in such a way that my rear end was at 90 degrees to the road, and cars passing by were setting the rear off, i guess it would be the same if the front ones were on, and you were pulling up to a T junction.

Yup, and all my BMWs are the same. I didn't know there were any cars that were in a different format to this. PDC is only activated in reverse, and it continues to stay on for a short period of time thereafter to allow for shunting back and forth. smile

You are correct that the DB9 is a totally different drive. Despite massive inducements I could not get the hang of the vantage when I test drove them so I opted for the DB9. Horses for courses, as they say.

Your car is fantastic looking. Your son is right to be proud of it, though it does appear that he is having a dump next to it biggrin

The front parking sensors on my old 2005 Ford used to be on all the time.

I never found it to be a problem in traffic or car parks but occasionally, if I was waiting at a stop sign to join a main road and a motorbike went past the nose, it would go off making me think that the bike was rather too close - but it just seemed happen randomly and not when cars passed for some reason, ISTR.

What bugs me about parking sensors (in my old Ford and now) in my Discovery is that the beep is not connected to the Hi-Fi so if the music is on loud, you can't hear them.

Wouldn't be too difficult to let the beepers take priority over the ICE I would have thought!

Sames goes for screaming kids/wives - there should be a microphone in the car that recognises 'background noise' and cranks up the level of the parking beepers accordingly! smile

Car is Quantum Silver. Agree seems to be in 5 or 6th gear and accelerating from cruise. Have used Shell V-power which I suppose is similar to BP ultima but may give the latter a go and see.

Pleased to hear that you are enjoying the Vantage, a friend had one four four years covered 86k miles only problems he experienced were electrical.

Just had my car service at Bamford Rose, am impressed with those guys,we talked about the various upgrades, would be interested to know if the new exhaust system increased the power/performance.
Obviously not affected the MPG.

Don't beat yourself up; the DB9 hardly helps in this respect.

I had a short period of less than a year in which we could travel four-up, but that meant the then one-year-old sitting behind me with his legs crossed and me sitting as far forward as I could while still being able to operate the pedals and gearstick, while then then four-year-old sat behind his mother and she had to have her legs quite bent. Add to that the tiny boot and you can see how compromised it is.

Now we have another baby, a two-and-a-half-year-old who simply will not fit behind me and a five-and-a-half-year-old who doesn't really fit behind his mother, so my DB9 might as well be a two-seater.

Still, it was a good when we could all fit in. I was seriously considering a Rapide until it became clear that a third child was on the way.

and by adding the said exhaust would instantly devalue your car.......I would never (and i'm not alone) buy an Aston Martin with a non standard part fitted to it.....just my opnion

I think your car is stunning by the way
