Forgive me if this has been covered before.

I am thinking of buying a 2008 on DB9 or at a push a DBS auto, only problem is that I have a 10 year old boy and a 12 year old girl that I need to fit in the rear seats.

Has anyone had experience of fitting kids in the back of these cars? Especially when we drive to the continent once or twice a year.

Or are they just not practical?

Any opinions are welcome

I don't know about the coupé, but the volante is awful for rear leg room. I drive it with the seat nearly all the way back, and it pretty much touches the rear seat.

You may get away with it now, but if you were to keep the car for a while, then I could see it being a problem in the near future.

My 13 year old lad struggles to get in the back of my 9 and has done for the last 2 years or so even with the passenger seat pushed all the way forward when Mrs O is in it. He can't sit behind me as I'm over 6'

He is around 5' 5" tall.

Sorry frown

even at 10/12 years old I wouldnt want to be taking them further than down the shops or to school ...the boot on a DB9 is smaller than a Vantage too

its not really a 4 person GT im afraid frown

Wrong car to buy even if you want your children in the back for 5 min once a week ....you will regret it..... Maseratti might be the way to go

My boys are 5 and 2. Now I can only take one with me as neither will fit behind me (6'2").

That pretty much confirms what I thought. frown

Maybe look at XKR and see what rear seats are like.

Maseratti was another option.

Or just keep the X5

It's headroom that's the problem; my 9 year-old fits ok, but the 11 year-old is already too tall for the back seats. irked He is of course prepared to put up with it as every journey is a treat.

I changed my v8v to a db9 with the thought it would be more useable with the back seats so that I could drop my boys off at school on way to work. Alas, it is not possible to use the car even with the passenger seat fully forward. They much prefer the roominess of the 4x4 even though the school is only a 15-20 minute drive in rush hour.

DB9 and Toerag is the ideal solution. Works fo me and I have no wish to change either.

XKR are as bad if not worse. Maserati however are the only genuine 2 + 2s out there as far as I can tell. Worth a look certainly, your budget would bey a beautiful GT-S or even a GranCabrio...

I've had a DB9 Volante that we used to drive down to the algarve for the summer every year, my children were 4 and 7 last time we did that and it was a real squeeze, we then moved into a California which was slightly bigger in the back, which we did last year which was stil a squeeze but this summer we've got a Rapide to do it in, I would say anything after about 6 on a long journey is too tight in a DB9 and a real squeeze, we are in a dilema this year as although we have the Rapide I like a cnvertible for the summer as we are away for the whole 10 weeks, and have been looking around for the last month for something else, the only options are the Maserati, good deals on these at the moment new but depreciation worries me or the Rolls Royce drophead used, this is a completely different car to the Ferrari and DB9 we had but I am beginning to think practical and need something as the children are growing quickly!

I realise mentioning the P word on this part of PH is heresy but I have a 997 and my 9 and 7 year olds fit ok. We have done long runs and they are fine 13 would be a push though - I agree you need a rapide or similar. Fun looking though.
