Apart from DMS in Derby (80 miles away) is there an Indy for servicing a Vantage nearer to Leeds? (May 2008 car 17k miles, so 3rd service).

I would expect JCT Leeds to charge a small fortune.

80 miles is worth it for the value, service and care at DMS, IMO.

x2 My experience is that they are up for a deal.

I believe, David, this is a 3rd year service so the equation gets complicated a bit - your warranty is about to expire so make sure the service is initiated to leave sufficient time to make any adjustments under the current extensive warranty. Thereafter you will be on a reduced warranty if that is what you choose to do.

The complication arises in that a Dealer may decide to throw in your (compulsory) pre-warranty inspection for free if you use them for servicing smile

Warranty has already expired and not looking to renew (will bank the cash instead). Had it checked over by Murray Aston in Edinburgh prior to purchase and in the last week of Warranty, no issues needed fixing.

Great.

By the way, I spoke to my broker about HH metering and she looked into non-HH prices for me - they were more expensive (average kwh price) than HH, and she pointed out future Govt steps to get everyone onto Smart Meters. Thus she does not recommend paying more per average kwh AND having to pay to go onto a smart meter in the future, when I already have HH in place.

Hope this is good advice. In any case I'm tied in on gas until Feb 2012 and elec until July 2012.

No probs speaking with you shortly before these dates vis-a-vis future contracts smile

If moving from HH to non-HH it's the only time when you compare your current contract rate per KWh, including standing charges etc (might have fixed that say a year ago) with a current market price for NHH. Also as you are in contract it depends what rate your current provider offers for non HH to determine if it's worth switching and then it's about negotiating that rate. You can't switch provider if you change meter type mid-contract so what other energy companies are offering in the marketplace is irrelevant to the switching decision unless you are very near the end of your contract, which you are not.

Also on renewal I would look at separating your rewewal dates because at the moment you are at risk that if the market is high, in the 4 month window that you are likely to be renewing both supplies within, you are locking in all your energy needs at a peak price. I would like to see at least a year diffierence, so perhaps fix 1 supply for 1 year and 1 supply for 2 years for example.

How about that for an off topic post.

I can only assume that Jockman has got his forums confused. Lets just hope that we don't get any stray posts from his posing_pouch.com membership!

Ooh nice. The black one size fits all is only £8.60. I'd take two but for the fact that the "ultimate rat pouches" are a snip at £6.90

Might have to suggest to Dr Bez that they do some Aston branded "super cygnet" pouches. They would of course be in genuine baby swan feathers and probably retail more around the £169 mark

biggrin

Hi - might give you an idea but I bought my car from Harrogate 7 weeks ago and as part of the deal they did a full AM service at JCT Leeds which was the nearest dealer; the car is an '06 so it would be a 5 year service. They left the receipt in the folder that came with the car and it was £711.

Interesting as I am due the five year service soon. Did that include the coolant as well?

Have just dug out the receipt - here's the breakdown:

Labour £375.00
Washer oil drain £0.98
Oil filter V8 £11.14
Sump plug £10.11
EPA £5.00
Coolant additive £18.50
Castrol £178.40
Complimentary full vehicle health check £0.00

With VAT it all came to £718.96 (I was £8 out, sorry biggrin)

No worries; let us know how you get on! I'm right on the border between Lancashire and West Yorkshire so my nearest two are Stratsone Wilmslow (where my car is originally from incidentally) and JCT Leeds.

Got to admit though from all the feedback on here am 99% certain am making the trip over to Rick's next March...

Just to come back on this to confirm that my fifth year service + coolant change was £603 and a few pennies at a main dealer and I supplied my own oil.

my thread on my first service on my MY09 4.7 V8V:

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...

I haggled the price down from £715 to £570 (including oil!) fairly quickly. Dealer markup on oil is huge, so its a key area to focus your negotiating skills!
