Ok, not quite sure what to do so thought i'd ask all your opinions.

My car was registered at the end of Jan 2010 and would have been due its 1st service in Jan 2011. However, as part of the deal when buying at the end of Aug 2010 (7 months old and 3000 miles) I got the supplying dealer (Wilmslow) to carry out the first service early. This was done on the basis that i'd be doing 3000 miles per year max and that as the car had already covered 3000 miles then it was due a service. Also, not having known how it had been driven, a service was a good idea.
So, do i have the 2nd service done one year after its last (Aug 2011) or wait until it is 2 years old (Jan 2012)?
The car may only have another 500-750 miles put on it during Sept 2011 - Jan 2012.
Another point to factor in is that the insurance renewal will be due at the end of August and it would be nice to stagger the two costs!
Thanks

You need to have the car serviced every 12mths so if you wait until Jan2012 the car will be overdue. All that having the first service early did was to save you 6mths on the service schedule.

As for choice of dealer - well I would go with the middle option and go with the main dealer. Haggle hard though!

Yup, unfortunately the gap is really too big. You could opt to close the gap over a 2/3 year period by putting in slightly more than 12 months.

I just had mine serviced after 13 months to rectify an anomoly, without any problems at all.

Good luck smile

I can never get too excited about servicing. Just make sure it's got oil in it.

If you weren't wearing a pair of shoes much, you wouldn't have them re-soled.

Same with cars.

And when you do want one, go to Derby Motor Services.

Mako I agree with Adam its got to be 12 monthly, but I see where your coming from.
Regarding who and how much is down to you but WS did mine recently to a fine standard, all be it at the price
they put in the V12V day goody bag.
Be aware they will replace your ID tags as part of your service which AM now request, so that helps toward bumping
up the bill sadly.
Tags apart [p*ss poor on AM and Eurowatch's part to charge during warranty period IMHO] WS did a stirling job and
my motor now runs better then ever, they also rectified my hidious rattles and fixed a few things I was unaware of.
For you it is a question of do I pay more and travel further and have the WS stamp in the book or stay with your local
AM dealership if you feel comfortable with them.
If you want to know more about the bill breakdown or experience just pm me no prob's.

Service it in August.

For next time, get the supplying dealer to agree to service it when it's due. Costs them nothing more, saves you 4mths smile

Ed50 - AM would struggle to change my tags as I'm actually using a Sony Erikson phone paired with the car via Bluetooth!!

I don't regard myself as an expert, but I would say that cars were slightly more complicated than shoes, with a few more moving parts..?
