Thanks for posting Tony and well done on 4th.

Did I read correctly 'Sweet paper'?

I've never seen one of these marking papers before so it's interesting to see how they judge and what they're looking for.

I really like the mesh grill on the silver DB. Maybe it just works with that color, but I would like to find out what they would look like on a Vantage.

Anyone have a company that makes them?

Thanks

Chiltern make them for the DB7, DB9 and Vantage, and have pictures they can send you. I have had my lower 3 grilles (DB9) filled with that mesh, really lifts the front of the car! However, preferred my slatted grille for the main opening.

There's a small pic of a DB9 grille here http://www.chilternaston.co.uk/ca/servicing/parts-...

I think it should have placed higher. Just look at the reflections in the paint compared to any of the other cars there! Especially since its actually been used and not kept in a bubble.

One of the best looking DB9's out there imo.

Nice pics. Saw your car Tony, she looked very nice sitting in front of Althorp House, for me it was a close call between yours and the black sports pack car, who won?
Shame AMOC can't do better with the non-concours events, stands and displays, but it was a pleasant day.

Hi Tony

And well done mate. Looking gorgeous as ever. The car looks good too. smile

Serious question. How do you get away with a stuck on number plate or isn't that relevent at Concours?

Di

Edited to also ask.... I presume you drove to the event! How do you compensate for dirt/brake dust collected en route, especially on the inside of the wheels?

The worrying thing is how many of those cars were at Works Service on Saturday too.

Francis, concours is not all about reflections in the paint mate! Car looks great though and good job placing 4th

Very true, its an odd one. I know that with porsches, you would get marked down if the point of the badge wasnt pointing at the tyre valve.

Either way, 4th in the elite class with a well used car is pretty good going.

It is very good going.

AMOC Concours is d'Etat - of state. It is not about how pretty or shiny the car looks. It is all about how close to how the car was (should have been) delivered (at the point of first registration) it is. For the DB9 the centre cap is fixed relative to the valve so it always points the same say, but for other cars it is variable. I do know that one entrant at the Concours this weekend made sure the 'R' of Pirelli on the tyre lined up with the valve - pretty, but probably pointless as the factory didn't do this. With d'Etat, every difference or obvious 'improvement' post registration is marks lost not gained.

my car is a massive improvement on cars leaving the factory......better paint work , knobs , and general condition......so lost points for making it better....guess i'll just put a few swirl marks in it , scuff the wheels , have a st on the leather interior to make it coarse.....and will probally win.....

on another note.....here's the story.....
after cleaning , putting on new wheels , left at 7.00 am.....drove 176 miles , pissed down on the M40 , got held in traffic , roads wet and dirt being chucked up all over car.....managed to get to Althorp at 9.45.....signed in...then discovered that all other entrants had been there since 8.30 am , and had travelled an average of 5 miles to the event.....so started to clean.....20 mins later judge turns up says they are going to start judging.......body work still st , wheels caped in dust and dirt....told him to start the other end.....in my own way.....had just enough time to empty car and give wheels a quick going over....then judge turns up at approx 11.....stop cleaning..!!!!....fking got hump now....
and left em too it...and went to country show and bought a very nice planter for my wife....got back just in time to see judges running their beady eyes over the engine bay...which i didn't have time to sort out , and it was dirty where the rain and st had gone through vents and grill....on top of that....exhaust box which Rick can confirm was like a mirror was marked as dirty....parking on the gravel at these events is just stupid...how the fk are you supposed to clean underneath laying on gravel?.....and having travelled more than 5 miles....not a good scenario ....and the wind blowing dust everywhere?....i think you will see i got marked down for dust in engine bay?....well don't open the fking bonnet mate..!!!!

Still after all that it was still a good day.....and to have an elite entry car win the most distance travelled to the event was a first i believe and still get 83 pts....so won a bottle of bubbly..(don't fking drink do i)....and an Auto glym kit that i would n't use on my grandsons toy cars let alone my own...so at Hever best looking car on the day will get a car cleaning kit.....well we are in a recession....

rant over.....oh..Di as for the number plate thing....have no idea and do not give a toss....tongue outsmokin
