Well guys after my last post my Exige is now sold and i'm on the hunt for that perfect Aston V8V!

So....it needs to come within my c42k budget (the lower the better obviously), don't want too many miles and it needs to have black interior (personal choice). It has to be 2006> to satisfy the finance company. I want to put the clear tail lights on it but apart from that it will be left standard. Any ideas? Have searched PH and AT and found these:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2838190.htm (could maybe haggle)

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2829418.htm (fits the bill but worried about the mileage)

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2722098.htm (crap pictures)

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2807556.htm (could maybe haggle - miles seem low and not sure about the wheels!)

Also, the problem I have is that I have no idea what colour to go for... I think it's either between Tungsten silver, Meteorite Silver or Onyx Black - anyone got the same spec with the clear lights?

I know i'm being fussy but want it to be perfect so thanks in advance guys!

Welcome x7lda, you won't regret making the move. Don't be put of by the miles as long as you get the spec you want and a fair price.

From speaking with David at works service in his 17 yrs the best cars are those that have been drive plus you stand a better chance of any faults already being picked up.

I haven't got any pics of the lights but I am sure someone will be along soon with some.

Couldn't find pics for all of them of a V8V, but found some of V12V.

Tungsten silver

Meteorite silver (the one I would go for)

Onyx black

Good for you, I moved from a VX220 Turbo into a V8V and love it.

The Vantage wheels you are not sure about are the std fit 18's whereas the vast majority had 19's fitted.

Thanks guys - the pics are really helpful!

Love both the silver variants actually and comments RE miles have been taken on board!! Could maybe use it to haggle as well, or get them to throw in some clear lights instead of a price chip? Not made the phone call to the dealers yet to discuss.. Anything else I should bear in mind or worth asking them to throw in before calling?

Also; 19's look better IMHO!

Black looks the best when clean. Which in my case is about 12 times a year. 5secs after being cleaned it's not clean.

If I were buying again, I'd go Tungsten I think.

Great news...you won't regret it!

I seriously wouldn't worry about the mileage...as per other posts on here, with the age of the car you are looking at I think you'd be better off with one that has been used and is more likely to have had any niggles sorted, and won't have been standing for long periods of time.

Good luck with the hunting - all I'd say was don't rule out buying privately, potentially some better deals to be had for pretty much the same spec you're looking for.

- Admittedly I am actually completely bias with this one!!

Tungsten has a green/blue fleck in bright sunlight, I like it on mine.
I've only ever seen one car with OEM 18's.
Buy on condition not miles, I saw some ropey low milers wink

BTW I'd say haggle on this car

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2793887.htm

I know Stephen has just had it in to Ricks and it has ALOT of N400/sports pack bits on it which really are worth having.
Lightning Silver is by far the nicest Silver and quite rare especially on early cars.

Ok, so you've decided it must be black inside and silver ( yawn!)- but comming from an Exige thought you would also be giving equal thought to how it drives !

The Vantage followed a somewhat odd development program, when the roadster came out it had stiffer suspension, better damping; ( everything the coupe should have been) it must have been a first for a roadster to handle better than its coupe equivalent!

So, if you want it to handle like a proper sports car you have to have the sport suspension pack.

Onto the power, because the vantage is heavy and the unit needs to be revved,it might sound great but its bark is worse than its bite!- your exige will leave it in the dust, im sorry to say! - so you will need the Aston or Prodrive engine upgrade to remove the throttle lag- (try blipping the throttle in a standard car- nothing happens!!) and provide the feeling of a power unit that is less constrained.
It is a pity I had not come to these conclusions before buying mine- had I have known I would never have bought it- hence the reason I have spent a fortune having these items fitted at Aston and would never suggest to anyone they buy a standard car of that vintage if you are a serious driver. Irrespective of your decision I can only advise you spend a while driving a standard car- dynamically you will be dissapointed even in the short term if you are a sporty driver.

Also look out for rear quarter paint and chipping damage ahead of the rear wheels ( Aston do put some film there but its to small) and rattling interiors which can drive you nuts!

late 07 onwards have far better seats that look v nice and clear lights bring the whole package up to date ( £1200 fitted)

Thanks for the input guys.

Definitely moving away from the Onxy black as my Exige was black and agree it's a nightmare to keep clean (although black Exige paint has a gold flake through it which really does not help!).

RE the private sale; I need to buy through a dealer unfortunately - only way the Finance company will fund it.

Agreed I came from a Sports Racer Elise to the N400 and test drove the 4.3 standard and the 4.3 with sports pack and 20bhp and have to say that in terms of that sportscar feel the 2 cars are worlds apart (you won't notice the 20bhp, but you will notice the throttle response), definitely seek out a sports pack, power upgrade car.

RE the power; of course I care about what it drives like however i'm sure even the most basic spec will be fantastic. Coming from the Exige I want something that is more of a cruiser than a racer - so i'm not too fussed about hard suspension and engine upgrades.

Sports Pack is far from hard.
Seriously I'd find away to buy private from the finance co.
That N400 look a like I posted has had ~£13k of bits added, its a rare sought after colour and it's a year younger than all the ones you are considering!

With respect this has got nothing to do with extreme modifications, its about control and driveability and the lack of development that went into early cars. The N400 is what the car should have been in the forst place with the 4.7 with sports pack providing a very good product- not worth the 20K uplift in price but.......

Standard car will be a cruiser with a soupcon of sportiness and if you have tried that on an extensive drive and liked it - then thats good. Im just surprised, given your previous car that this would fit the bill - sort of one extreme to the other.

Have you looked at a personal loan rather than traditional car finance?
I have bought previous cars with a personal loan over a slightly longer repayment period. The benefit you get is generally a lower interest rate and often more flexible terms so can pay off earlier (ie I took out a loan over 5 years in order to get the monthly repayment I wanted and then paid off after 2 years)

This car I bought with some finance from Aston (santander) and the rate was similar.
BTW - I bought tungsten silver with black interior (love the depth in the tungsten colour!!!!)
