My protective film looks awful everytime I clean the car. Anything to remove the residue and give it a better appearance? Or is it a case of re-applying some new film?

Is it costly to do?

Any advice ladies and gents?

My universal cure all work on plastics, both clear and coloured, paint, glass. NOT Fabrics/leather.
Made by 3m "Imperial hand glaze". brilliant product.

£12 - bargain. Cant see the lower ones being much different. Are they easy to fit does anyone know?? I can't see it being too difficult...

3200gt - Are you confident looking at the pic that a bottle of the 3M Glaze would rectify the issue? Also, is this the correct stuff - http://www.autopaint-pro.co.uk/1l-3m-05990-imperia... - seems a decent price.

Thanks Guys

Take a look at the headlamp lens on my 3200 in my profile and make your own decision.
Yes, thats the stuff, no self respecting petrolhead should be without it in their armoury

Had my car detailed yesterday and the film went from the same as in the top picture to like new.

Bit of a sledgehammer to crack a nut if that's the only reason for doing it though.

3200gt - What's your technique with the 3M product - simply buff on and off with a microfibre? Thanks

Give the bottle a good shake, buff on and polish off.

Hi Glugcom-- any chance these are available to purchase for self-application (application by self to the car, not application to oneself)?

I would think £12 is supply only

You need to drive that car more - look at the brake disc!

3200gt - to clarify - this product takes away all/most of the minor scratches/blemishes on the headlamp covers?

Mine show the signs of being used - small scratches etc which is unavoidable given where they are I guess.

My lens covers still had the mould release glop on them when I first collected the car, I tried all sorts to get rid of it before i used this stuff. Came off without any issues very easily. It is actually designed to polish imperfections out of most materials, even swirl marks after several applications.
Once you've tried it on the car give it to the designated inside window cleaner of the household. It'll clean and polish off without any smears or streaks. We get through gallons of the stuff in our household.
If it needs cleaning, go for your bottle of "Imperial hand glaze", nothing works faster! (even CILLET BANG is st compared to this stuff).
I can feel a change of career into advertising coming on biggrin

Cheers both thumbup

Jon - let us have those shots when you have time...

I reckon I might be buying some of this stuff. I used to use Renovo hood clean stuff on my TVR Griffith headlamp covers which worked a treat so I'm looking for a replacement...smile

Well the conclusion of my test this afternoon is that the 3M stuff is brilliant - many thanks to 3200GT - nice tip.

Started car at 4pm, only just finished as I decided to polish the entire car with it once I saw that my swirl marks were rapidly disappearing!! Seriously this stuff got rid of scratches that a pro detailer couldn't shift with all his kit...

Got a few photos, only iPhone4 available so not the best. Here is a couple of shots of the arch with film so you can see the improvement:

Thought you'd enjoy one of the bonnet or should I say the sky! Apologies I'm in it and yes it was hot today!

Finally showing off the wet-look finish:

All in all, I'm impressed, appreciate the nod on this 3200GT!

Not sure you needed to wear AM undercrackers to clean the car.

Now where did I put my royalties contract?
