Good evening all

As I'm now going to use my pride and joy as my regular drive (including 400 mile round trips to Manchester on motorways) and will likely put on 12,000 miles a year so I'm tempted to put on a full body clear ppf. I've always had my cars detailed and pampered but to a degree my anal approach has marred my ownership so I'm looking for a compromise which will let me use the car fully whilst still keeping it in A1 condition.

I've never used wraps or films and whilst I appreciate that they will never look as good as a highly washed waxed and polished car I'm sure they will provide more protection. And from 20 yards at 20mph there may be no discernable difference.

I'd welcome your thoughts on this and recommendations on which type to have applied and by whom. I'm based in Surrey but obviously will travel to ensure the best job is done.

Many thanks.

Jason

Protection film is a marmite product , I like it .
Just had full bonnet and front wings done. Prepared to sacrifice a little mirror finish for peace of mind.
Paint shield are well regarded

Yep I used to hate it and sprayed my S2000 front bumper every year laugh
I bought my Aston with front bumper, cills, partial bonnet & front wings, mirrors and extended rear arches.
It is superb I put ~9k/yr on mine mainly on back roads with a lot of grit and stones.
I only have 4 small stone chips just out side the front wing covering frown
You don't need a full body wrap
I have the car paint corrected and do use Zaino Z2 all over mine including the PPF, lights and trim.
You cannot see it unless you look hard

You could have it wrapped with wrap film but that doesn't stop stone damage, paint protection film would, the best I've seen is Opticools, we have stock of Ventureshield and still deal in it but if you look across it with a light source above you can see an orange peel effect. I've used it for years and never noticed, neither have clients, someone else came in one day and pointed it out, it was as clear as orange then, warranty issues fobbed off too, maybe they all do that.
When you look through it, it doesn't have great clarity, opti's is like looking through glass, that may be our next stock.
Quite a few out there now, VS, opti's, Oraguard are the most flexible and easier to work with, some of 3M's others, and other manufacturers can be more like working with a sheet of card, Mactac have one out that isn't quite there yet.
If you want a cheap kit, go with VS as dealers are locked into supplying at low prices, don't ask me though as I charge for a proper established business.

So can you supply a templated set of the Opticool stuff for a DIY install?
Contemplating replacing mine when I put the N400 sills on.

Hi Mikey, Yes we can, I wouldn't recommend DIY on a car kit but I wouldn't recommend wrapping DIY and some people on here have with good results, depends on how practical you are really, I have some material coming soon to trial, if that go's ok then we'll have new stock.

Send me a message when you're ready and we can go from there.

Thanks!
