My nearside mirror glass is at it's most 'angled' position and JUST suits me. I'm of average build and my drivers seat position is failry average. When the mrs drives the car and has the seat further forward the mirror will not angle sufficiently. Is this normal for the glass to be effectively hanging off? It all feels secure......
And yes I know the mirror is currently folded back :-)
thanks

Never really looked, but don't recall mine looking that far out either we me driving it (6'4") or my other half (5'3").

I'm guessing you have the older slimline mirrors fitted to your car? I had exactly the same problem with those mirrors on my 4.7 V8. They may look prettier than the newer mirrors but they just dont function quite as well and I always wanted to move it another mm or so beyond the limit of its adjustment.

The new mirrors on my V12V are just great, when adjusted to suit me they still seem to have plenty of movement to go. Plus they are bigger and give better visibility.

Looks wrong to me. I'm only about 5'9" and I don't drive with straight arms, yet I can get the n/s mirror angled correctly - and, more to the point, so can my wife, who is 4'12"!

I was about to make some comment about only using the mirror for checking out the admiring stares, but it's the wrong extreme for that!
I'm also 5'9" and have never had an issue. The misses (5'6" 1/4") has also not reported any issue

That said careful use of the loud pedal reduces the need for that mirror anyway!

Mine is only ever used to assist in applying lipstick, do you mean you can also see whats behind in them? Isn't technology wonderful.

On a serious note, mine dont do that but as a previous poster suggested, I too have the later larger mirrors.

It doesn't have a federal mirror glass fitted in error does it? They're the type that magnify thus reducing the amount of glass to actually look through. It happened on early V8's and DB9's. Maybe someone picked up the wrong glass at the factory?

Does anyone have a pic of the 2 mirrors, new v's old?
Mine is a March 2010 registered car?

The supplying dealer wants to have a look at car but thats a 150 mile round trip and I'm reluctant to take it there just for them to say "thats normal".

Take a photo of the car from the front with the mirrors unfolded. We'll be able to tell you which you have.

Basically, if yours look like they wouldn't look out of place on a bus, or Dumbo, you have the later mirrors.

The later mirrors were made bigger due to euro regs (allegedly). They also serve to slow the car down sufficiently through drag and weight that you no longer need to use them. And on a dark night they act as backup to Hubble.

Might be a silly question.
If they're federal glass, will they not have the "objects may appear closer than they are" b/s etched into them? Certainly normal (UK) ones do not.

If I understand, the implication is that federal ones *must* have

Aston didn't put that on all of their mirror glass. Only on the federal passenger side. (their drivers is our passengers) The difference is quite pronounced when you see it.

Personnally, I've got used to the big mirror now. Way easier to see out of when reversing. Seems to have better airflow around it too, causing less buffeting.

It's alright, if I'm not confusing other people I'm only confusing myselfspin!
